At Monday night's city council meeting, mayor Mike Weyrich introduced the measure to the council and then turned the floor over to Street Commission member Wiley Friedel.
He mentioned that the commission met and waded through several e-mails on the subject not only from the area but from around the world.
"As one couple said, 'please don't change our address.' We realize what a pain that can be for someone who has had the same address for 30 to 40 years. And the blog was up to 68 percent against it. And opinions that I polled by myself was 90 percent against any changes. And so the Street Commission came up with the motion that no change be made to the name of Hooker Street," he said.
Friedel did make the motion for the name to remain the same and it passed unanimously.
