Dix's mother, Leasia Dix, confirmed that jewelry found on the body matches items worn by her daughter, according to WRIC-TV8.
The unidentified remains were transported to the state laboratory and an autopsy has been requested, the sheriff's office. No further information or details were released by police.
Dix, a 24-year-old mother, has been missing since May 3. Her car was found three days later in a Chester store parking lot. She was last seen by some of her friends with her ex-boyfriend Dequency Batts.
In September, Leasia Dix pleaded with area hunters to be alert for evidence relating to her daughter.
The Dix family has been offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the location of Leigha Dix.
