Jenah Doucette will be featured on the reality show "America's Next Top Model." The casting special aired Wednesday night, kicking off the ninth season of the show.
Although Doucette is not allowed to speak publicly about the show until its conclusion, those who know her are eager to cheer on their own hometown star. Often described as laid back and down to earth, those who went to school with Doucette were confident she will do well.
"She never really expressed an interest in modeling to me, but she looks gorgeous and I think she'll go far," said Emily Banerer, 18, of Farmington.
Banerer, who has known Doucette casually for about five years, said that Doucette does not fit the stereotypical model image, describing her friend as "quiet and laid back."
Other Farmington High students agreed. "She kind of kept to herself, but she definitely has that model look," said Chris Rodriguez, a senior.
Doucette attended Farmington High School until spring 2006, where she was involved in the Drama Club and the Audio Video Club.
Mitchell Scott, a senior at Farmington High, also belongs to the Audio Video Club, and said Doucette made an appearance on Wednesday to say hello to her friends. "She seemed really excited," Scott said, "and we got to watch her video interview on the 'Net."
Ryan Fraley attended class with Doucette last year.
"She was the type (in high school) that was friends with everyone," Fraley said. "I was surprised when I heard (she was on the show) but you can tell, she has that tall skinny model thing going on."
In an online interview on The CW Web site, Doucette said that after being urged by her friends, she finally decided to go to New York City to interview for the show.
Doucette, who proclaimed on the show that "girls are terrified of me," received both criticism and compliments on blogs that followed Wednesday night's first episode.
"America's Next Top Model" airs every Wednesday at 8 p.m. on The CW station.
