Becker Family Expresses Gratitude, Seeks Prayers
09/26/2007
Kevin Becker, the son of Woodbury resident Bonnie Becker, underwent brain surgery last week. Mrs. Becker is offering thanks to community members who have rallied around Kevin and his two sons, Bruce and Brandon.
WOODBURY - Woodbury resident Bonnie Becker is offering thanks to local residents whose help and prayers allowed her son, Kevin, to obtain alternative treatment for a brain tumor about five years ago.

Kevin suffers from an astrocytoma/glioma tumor. The tumor grows like a tree branch, his mother said, making it almost impossible to find the root.

Kevin sought treatment in Texas, only to be turned away and told to raise more money. He subsequently underwent surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital. At that time, 90 percent of the tumor was removed, along with one quarter of his brain.

On Friday, September 21, Kevin underwent surgery again, this time with Dr. Arthur Day, a neurosurgeon at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

Once again, Mrs. Becker is asking for prayers for her son, who has a love of the martial arts and has two sons of his own, Bruce Lee and Brandon Lee.

"Kevin has a fierce fire burning, keeping him alive," his mother said. "He's waiting for the day when seizures are nonexistent and new technology finds a cure for this type of tumor."

Those seeking additional information may call Mrs. Becker at 860-485-3976.
