The investigation by the North Central Washington Narcotics Task Force and Omak Police Department netted approximately 13,500 marijuana plants and five arrests following a raid on the Colville Reservation last week, the Okanogan County Sheriff's Office said in a release
They seized about 10,000 marijuana plants then on the reservation with the arrest of two male subjects still in the grow.
The next day (Wednesday) two other men were arrested in Omak after they had fled the scene on Tuesday. An Omak police officer spotted them in Wal-Mart wearing camo. A fifth male suspect who was involved in the grow operations was also arrested on Tuesday evening at his residence in Omak.
During the investigation, detectives with the Task Force also had information of another marijuana grow in Ferry County, but had not been able to locate it. Late Wednesday afternoon they discovered the grow.
The marijuana was planted in steep mountainous terrain at an elevation of approximately 5,600 feet above sea level. Because of the terrain, helicopters were needed to carry law enforcement officers into the area and to remove the marijuana from the mountain.
