Florian scored 30 goals this year including two games when she netted five goals.
The Blue Knights did have a few early chances to take a lead. They hit the post four times in the first half.
Kuras stepped up and used her quickness to run through the middle of the Southington defense netting a goal with 9:20 left in the first half.
Five minutes later Lindsay Pedrotty worked her way to the middle in front of the Southington net. The Blue Knight defenders knocked the ball out of her possession, but Farmington junior Becca Evans scooped it up and dumped it in the goal.
"We were pretty sloppy and didn't connect on our passes," Southington coach Jeff Lownds said.
With two minutes left to play in the first half Farmington junior Lindsay Crane took the ball behind the Southington goal and tried to pass over the goalkeeper but the ball hit off the goalies' stick and dribbled down into the net giving Farmington a 3-0 lead.
Florian had enough.
She took the situation into her own hands driving quickly down the field and fired a shot into the lower left corner of the goal with 1:30 left to make the score 3-1 at the half.
Jodi Albert scored with just over a minute gone in the second half to make it a 3-2 game.
Then Kuras and Florian took control of the scoring for their respective teams.
Kuras scored two goals in a minute and a half to give the Indians a 5-2 lead.
"Kuras played well," Farmington coach Elizabeth deSimas said. "They were up for this game. We had a couple of rain outs during the week and lost to a tough Conard team on Monday, so they were very gung-ho to get a win at the end of the year."
With a three-goal lead Farmington's defense went to work to secure the victory.
Junior Christine Nicol used her size and reach to upset Southington's passing and its middle game.
"Its great when I have Christine (Nicol) and Kate (Garvey) in there together. When I have the two of them in to double-team its pretty lethal and not many players can get by them." deSimas said.
The Blue Devils, and particularly Florian, were not going down without a fight. With 17:20 left in the game she powered in a goal and less than three minutes later Florian struck again cutting the lead to one.
"Florian almost took over the game," Lownds said. "She played a real good game. The better team in this game won. They (Indians) played a real good game and deserved to win."
The Indians will have most of the team back next season except for leading-scorer Kuras who is a senior.
"This is only our second varsity year so we are getting better everyday," deSimas said. "We have been working hard all year. We played well and improved a lot this year."
The Blue Knights will look forward to having Florian back next season.
