Dennis Arrowsmith, 39, Missouri Valley, was seriously injured early Monday when his vehicle struck a parked car along Interstate 80 near the Manawa exit, Council Bluffs. Arrowsmith was eastbound at about 6:45 a.m. when he said he leaned over to grab an item from the passenger floor area. As he did so, the car drifted to the right and struck the unoccupied parked vehicle on the right shoulder. Arrowsmith's vehicle then went to the left across two lane of traffic and came to a stop in the median. He was transported to Alegent Health Mercy Hospital, Council Bluffs, by Council Bluffs Fire and Rescue, where he was, reports said, treated for facial lacerations and a broken neck, then released with a neck brace. Arrowsmith was cited for failure to maintain control.
