WEST GOSHEN -- The hand recount in the 156th Legislative District, which will determine which party controls the state House of Representatives, concluded on Wednesday afternoon, far faster than most people expected, and the remaining challenges will be reviewed in court this morning.

Out of about 23,000 votes recounted, 12 ballots still have to be accounted for, and as of Wednesday, there are 12 ballots that are challenged. Chester County Common Pleas Court Judge Howard F. Riley Jr. will review the remaining challenges this morning.
Clifford B. Levine, an attorney for the Democratic Party, said after the second day of the recount wrapped up that he is confident Democrat Barbara McIlvaine Smith's lead over Republican Shannon Royer remains steady, and he believes that her lead has stretched to 26 votes over Royer. He added that her lead over Royer will be more concrete after this morning's ruling on the remaining challenged ballots.
"It appears we have confirmed Barbara McIlvaine Smith will be the elected representative," he said. "It appears there will be 102 Democrats in power to elect a speaker for the House."
Ronald L. Hicks Jr., an attorney for the Republican Party, said after Wednesday's conclusion that it is uncertain what the results are at this point.
"We have a hearing at 9:30. That's all I know," he said. "We don't know any results yet."
Hicks said he knew a hand recount could conclude in a timely fashion.
"Once everyone cooperates and it gets going, it goes by fast," Hicks said.
Levine was surprised that the recount was finished in just two days.
"I don't think anyone thought this was possible," he said.

    Mrs. Smith Goes To Harrisburg
It was certified weeks ago but now it's official. The best candidate for this season won. Mr. Royer should have conceded weeks ago but he held true to the machine factor that we will make the county pay for what he and most knew and that was when it was all said and done the people of the 156th had spoken and we made a choice to send a representative of the people for the people and by the people.

I would love to know how much it cost to go through this. When it was him ahead he said that "Mrs. Smith fought a good fight" when the tables turned he decided to make the will of the people be challenged and the outcome was what it was all along.

The take away from all of this is EVERY VOTES COUNTS literally.

    God Bless The Commonwealth
