World War I grave finally receives stone
| | | | | |
The grave of Paul Y. Wilson, a World War I Veteran, has finally received a gravestone after over 16 years, thanks to the efforts of genealogist Stephanie Lantiere and Bob Dorr, a Veteran and Masonic historian. While doing genealogy research on Harry Bryon Wilson, Mrs. Lantiere found his brother Paul's obituary, and discovered that Paul was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Watertown. She investigated the gravesite and discovered that he didn't have a gravestone. She then contacted Bob Dorr, who was able to get a stone through a Veteran's organization. When she sent Paul's obituary to Bob, he noticed that Paul was also a Mason and member of Harmony Lodge # 42 A.F. & A.M. Coincidentally, Bob was the Historian at the same Lodge. Bob did some research and found that Paul was a member of Harmony Lodge for 67 years before he died, and presented this information to the Lodge, which voted to pay for the engraving on the stone. At 10 a.m. Saturday, October 7 at the Evergreen Cemetery, a Masonic service was held after the gravestone was placed on the gravesite of Paul Y. Wilson, who died on March 18, 1990 at the age of 93 in Wolcott. The service was held by Harmony Lodge members: Worshipful Master Paul Iltchenko, Chaplain Russ Griswold and Historian Bob Dorr. Also present were Naugatuck Valley Genealogy Club members Stephanie Lantiere, Helene Agnew and Karen Brozek; Watertown Historical Society President Jeff Grenier and member Shirley Zuritis; and the wives of the attending Harmony Lodge members.
