MIDDLEBURY - As one of 11 remaining trolley parks in the nation, Quassy Amusement Park is rich in history and tradition.Quassy has announced the release of a first of a series of collector's postcards as the park continues its countdown to 100 years of operation in 2008. The five postcards are reminiscent of the many small amusement parks that once operated in the nation, of which only a handful remain. Four of the cards feature historic photos, some of which date back to the 1920s. In particular, Postcard 3 shows the 1915 Dance Hall (photo circa 1930) that still stands today as the centerpiece at the 20-acre facility. The huge pavilion now houses the park's redemption arcade with its unique architecture still intact.Postcard 1 features the former entrance and archway leading into the park and Postcard 5 is a recent photo of the classic Allan Herschell Monster roller coaster that majestically stands along the lakefront. The cards are available at the park's gift shop and Quassy is also accepting mail orders with all five cards available for $5, postage included. Mail orders may be send to Quassy Amusement Park, P.O. Box 887, Middlebury, 06762. Checks should be made payable to Quassy with a notation included for the postcard series. The park's history is also available in book form and may be purchased at the gift shop or through the mail for $20, postage included.
