The annual Narberth Memorial Day parade will take place Monday, May 29, starting at 9:30 a.m. from Conway and Windsor avenues in Narberth.
As in past years, the parade route will go through the center of the downtown business district, with a brief musical performance in the center of town.
Immediately following the parade at around 11 a.m., there will be a memorial service at the Narberth War Memorial at the intersection of Windsor and North Wynnewood avenues.
The Narberth American Legion Post, the Narberth War Memorial Committee and the Narberth Fire Company are sponsoring the parade.
Belmont Hills
BELMONT HILLS - The Belmont Hills American Legion Post Number 857 will pay tribute to its heroic war dead on Monday, May 29. This tribute will be held at the corners of Elmwood Avenue and School Street, at the Belmont Hills Elementary School by the war monument. The service begins at 9:30 a.m. In the event of rain, the services will be held in the Belmont Hills Fire Company Hall. The community and its nearby residents are invited.
Ardmore
ARDMORE - Lt. j.g. Joseph Haungs will be the speaker at Ardmore's annual Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 29. Haungs is also a Lower Merion police officer. As a Lower Merion police officer, Haungs runs the township's DARE program.
Haungs, a Navy reservist, was activated shortly after the start of the war in Iraq and was assigned to Naval Intelligence at the Pentagon in 2002 and 2003.
The service at St. Paul's Cemetery immediately follows the annual parade that begins at the Ardmore Fire Station on Greenfield Avenue. The parade begins at 10:30 a.m.
Gladwyne
GLADWYNE - The annual Gladwyne Memorial Day Parade and Block Party will take place on Monday, May 29 starting at noon. Dr. Matt Genser, a Gladwyne resident and veterinarian serving the community for over 40 years will be this year's Grand Marshal.
The day's activities begin at 10 a.m. with an open house at the Scout House located at the corner of Conshohocken State and Youngsford roads. Bike decorating with free decorations will begin at 11 a.m. at the Gladwyne Elementary School lower playground.
Bike riders and parents are reminded that helmets are mandatory to ride in the parade. The parade will start promptly at noon. In addition to the Lower Merion High School marching band, there will be antique cars, the representatives from the Gladwyne Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, the Gladwyne Fire company as well as other local fire companies and much more.
Following the parade a Memorial Day ceremony will be held at which the guest speaker, First Lieutenant Christine Nashner, will share some of her experiences while in Iraq. Following the ceremony the Give & Take Jugglers will host a show for the children.
The Gladwyne Library League and the Gladwyne Civic Association are hosting the parade and block party. Firstrust Bank is the corporate sponsor.
