MARPLE TOWNSHIP - "Stand the Pressure" -- an original play presented by a group of Delaware County high school students -- will debut at 7 p.m. March 28 at Delaware County Community College. Innovative, imaginative, fast-paced and real, "Stand the Pressure" is a performance piece with original music, real-life stories and lots of humor. The play is free and open to the public

Funded by the Delaware County Office of Behavioral Health and coordinated by the non-profit group Holcomb Behavioral Health Systems, Prevention and Education Services in Media, Stand the Pressure is a production of YES (Youth Educating Society) Theater.

Benjamin Kanes of Haverford is the artistic director and Dan Kleiman of Paoli is the musical director.

"YES Theater creates a wonderful space between theater and education," Kanes said.

In its 13th year performing for local audiences, YES Theater is a teen substance-use prevention program which explores everyday themes in adolescence such as the pressures of growing up, making healthy choices and provides important information to families and teens.

The show also explores topics in sex, violence, coping skills and self-awareness.

Content is appropriate for mature 13 year-olds and older.Adults who attend the show will also be able to help judge the 2006 Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Awareness Poster Contest. YES Theater will be performing in county schools and in the community through April.
