"We know that it will be an exciting and well-received addition to the waterpark area and overall experience to our guests."
The "Tunnel Twister" slides will be part of the "Saturation Station" interactive family water play area complex, which is adjacent to the park's Quassy Beach.
Built by ProSlide Technology, Inc. of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, the new slides will mark the first major expansion of Quassy's water play area, which was installed in 2003.
Dropping from a 30-foot platform, the "Tunnel Twister" waterslides will each be more than 200 feet in length. One slide will incorporate ProSlide's "Adventure Blackwater Bodysliding Technology" in that the covered trough will plunge riders into total darkness.
The second slide, though covered, will be translucent, with both slides finishing their descents in open, shallow run-off troughs.
Located near the entrance platform to "Saturation Station," the "Tunnel Twisters" will bring to four the number of waterslides at the attraction.
ProSlide also provided the two smaller family waterslides which were part of the initial project in 2003.
"Saturation Station" was the first interactive water play area of its type constructed in world by KoalaPlay Group of Englewood, Colo. Using its "WaterColors" theme, KoalaPlay incorporated more than 30 ways to get drenched on the multi-tiered attraction.
At the heart of "Saturation Station" is a huge dumping bucket which creates a waterfall of fun every few minutes. There are also a variety of cascading fountains, water cannons, bucket falls and a net climb on the attraction.
Quassy Beach and "Saturation Station" open Memorial Day Weekend for the 2006 season while Quassy Amusement Park is open weekends starting April 29. Daily operation of the park starts in mid-June.
Located on Route 64, Quassy Amusement Park will celebrate 98 years in 2006.
The 20-acre, lakeside park features more than two-dozen rides and attractions, including the "Yo-Yo" super swing, "Music Fest," "Paratrooper," "Monster" roller coaster and a Grand Carousel.
A variety of children's rides are offered throughout the park as well as pay-as-you-go attractions such as the "Extreme Zone" rock-climbing wall, paddle boats and the Quassy Queen pontoon boat on Lake Quassapaug.
Quassy also features a family entertainment/redemption center with a variety of arcade and skill games. Midway games if skill offer fun for all ages and the park also has a restaurant, entertainment at the Lakeside Theatre stage and areas for private catered group outings.
