      Kip Janvrin, son of Ken and Karen Janvrin of Panora and former Panora-Linden and Simpson College athlete, competed in his first masters decathlon at the World Masters Athletics Championship in San Sebastian, Spain.
      Competing August 23-24, Kip set a new American and World record with a score of 8,623 points. En route to the record, Kip won 9 of the 10 events.
      The former world record was held by Simon Poelman of New Zealand. Second place went to Jack Hoyt with a score of 6,942 points. Hoyt was the holder of the American record until this meet.
      Janvrin also won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 54.68.
      Janvrin is track coach at Central Missouri State in Warrensburg. His wife Teresa accompanied him to Spain.
      Day 1 results:
      100 meters 11.56, long jump 22'3", shot put 45'11.75", high jump 5'10.75", 400 meters 49.46.
      Day 2 results:
      High hurdles 15.40, discus 140'1", pole vault 15'5", javelin 191'7", 1500 meters 4:25.87.

  Kip Janvrin won the 400-meter hurdles in the M40 age group in San Senastian, Spain, not the 400 meters. Otherwise, a nice write-up!
