Crisis teams at Painesville Township school

Staff and students at Riverside High School continued to grieve Thursday over the Wednesday death of 14-year-old Kyle Williams in his Painesville Township home.
"We have crisis management teams at the school," Riverside Principal David Toth said.
Kyle was a player on the ninth-grade football team last fall. He was discovered in his bed Wednesday by his mother shortly before 6 a.m., officials said.
Kyle's mother called 911 and tried cardiopulmonary resuscitation, reports said.
Painesville Township Fire Department paramedics tried to revive her son, but he was pronounced dead on arrival, according to reports.
Kyle might have died of an accidental overdose after intentionally inhaling harmful aerosol-type chemicals, according to a preliminary report from the Lake County Sheriff's Department and Dr. Salvatore Rizzo, the Lake County coroner.
A spray commonly used to clean computers was found at the scene, Chief Lake County Deputy Sheriff William E. Crosier said.
A coroner's report states an autopsy was performed Thursday, but the cause and manner of death will be reported after the completion of histologic and toxicology studies.
Through a spokesman, the victim's parents said they were not ready to talk publicly about the incident.
Crosier said the family was extremely distraught.
"When I talked to the dad, he was just devastated," Crosier said. "He was tragically broken up."
At Riverside High in Painesville Township, officers from the Lake County Narcotics Agency's PLUS team talked with eighth- and ninth-graders.
The goal of Peers Learning Usable Skills is to stimulate discussion with young people about the harmful effects of drug and chemical abuse in hopes of discouraging any curiosity they might have.
Officials also met with Riverside staff Thursday to alert them to warning signs that might indicate a student is engaging in dangerous behavior.
Meanwhile, two Perry Middle School students are accused of having inhalants on school property last week. According to law officials, the students have been suspended.
Perry Village Police Chief David Liggett said the village prosecutor is looking into charging the youths.
"I have a pending investigation relative to the use of dust remover by some students at Perry Middle School," Liggett said. "We expect the investigation to be done early next week."
Perry Middle School Principal Ann Spurrier did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
