Physical therapist Jorge Battilana does a hands-on pain-relieving spinal treatment.
Christopher Newell and Jorge Battilana are dedicated not only to help you reach your optimum level of pain-free good health but to help you stay there. In some cases, they may be able to prevent the accident and injury that cause distress.

When this dynamic duo paired up to open their partnership Performance Physical Therapy of Naples, they each brought with them an admirable history of 15 years of experience along with a high level of energy and enthusiasm.

Now, the therapists are visiting physicians throughout Marco Island, Naples and surrounding areas to advise them of their services.

Originally from the Boston area, Newell completed a B.S. at Utah State University and an M.S. in physical therapy from the University of Miami School of Medicine. His internships included Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tufts University in Boston, and Sports Medicine in Honolulu.

At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Newell 's expertise in orthopedics and sports rehabilitation enabled him to treat both national and international short track speed and figure skaters. He has been a mentor to other physical therapists, has assisted local physicians in developing protocols for post-surgical care, and assisted Florida Gulf Coast University's athletic departments with their physical examinations.

Battilana is originally from Buenos Aires where he graduated from the University of Buenos Aires with a master's degree. His extensive continuing education credits are supplemented by additional clinical certification for the treatment of the spine from the renowned McKenzie Institute USA. He has a wide variety of experience with the treatment of orthopedic and spine problems as well as general orthopedic rehabilitation. His treatment approach has enabled him to help many patients avoid surgery and resume pain-free lives.

Battilana is currently working on a doctoral degree from the University of St. Augustine in Florida. He brings a multi-cultural flavor to the practice with fluency in English, Spanish and conversational Portuguese.

"Many of our clients are hurting and need relief from symptoms of arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, or other orthopedic conditions requiring preventive or non-surgical care," Newell said. "We specialize in orthopedic physical therapy and have extensive experience in treating patients after partial or total joint replacement as well as arthroscopic surgeries."

Who doesn't have a backache?

"With Jorge, we have one of the most highly credentialed spine therapists in the Naples area," Newell claimed.

Battilana's treatment approach towards back and neck injuries is comprehensive.

"First, I carefully evaluate the spine, posture and body mechanics to plan individual treatment plans and home exercise programs."

If back, neck, shoulder, hip, knee or ankle pain is keeping you out of tennis, golf or another activity you love, you can bring your sports pains to Newell and Battilana. By helping athletes of all ages rebuild strength, restore range of motion and flexibility, they can hasten recovery. With sport-specific training and injury prevention workshops, they can guide you towards healthier enjoyment of activities.

Their immaculate new office is bright and airy, with private consultation rooms as well as an open area containing high-tech exercise and rehabilitation equipment.

They're open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday by appointment.

Their motto is, "If you need us, we can be here."

The clinic is located at 4949 Tamiami Trail North in the Bank Plaza Building opposite Outback Steak House in Suite 104. Call 643-2040 for more information.
