A 20-year-old Harrison woman whose own videotape of her and two men allegedly committing at least three felony drug violations could wind up with the video helping to incriminate her at a Nov. 14 court hearing, according to court documents.

Crystal Lee Mays appeared in Boone County Circuit Court Friday, Oct. 24 on probation violations. Mays' probation officer told the court that Mays absconded for about six months, failed to pay fines and court costs, failed to find employment and failed to report to her probation officer.
Mays, held in Boone County jail, was told by Judge Gordon Webb that if she is able to make her $2,500 bond, she must live with her mother.
Mays' original charges are for prescription fraud, possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said that on Feb. 8, 2002, Mays and two men videotaped themselves having sex and snorting lines of suspected methamphetamine while Mays' 5-month-old baby was lying on the floor beside them.
The three then videotaped Mays faking a neck injury then going to a Harrison doctor where she illegally received pain medication including 30 tablets of Soma and 30 tablets of Oxycodone.

    * Raymond Edward Allen, 32, of Harrison pleaded not guilty to attempting to obtain a controlled substance by fraud by altering a prescription. Police said that when Allen changed a prescription for 30 Percocet tablets to read '80,' a pharmacist contacted the doctor who confirmed Allen had altered the prescription.
    * David Earl Elliott, 39, of Green Forest pleaded not guilty to leaving the scene of an accident, no proof of insurance, reckless driving and improper parking on a highway.
    * Angela M. Akers, 27, of Omaha had her hot check charges dismissed when she paid off all costs.

its the bleeding hearts that are the problem with this country. This woman should be thrown in Jail for life and have her child taken away, and use her as an example. This problem will only propagate itself throughout generations if you bleeding hearts have your way. What is the alternative? Slap her on the hand, give her kid back, so the baby can grow up to continue the cycle? With the example shown, her child will grow up to continue the same activities, and guess what? We'll paying for that child, and that child's children with our tax dollars. And as long as we provide this social airbag for people, they will continue to mess up. If they are punished harshly, and have their lives ruined, maybe others will avoid thier path in life. Thats what kind of drastic measures we have to take, because you softhearted liberals have created a society in which the responsible people are forced to pay for other people's mistakes and enable them to propagate themselves, at an alarming rate, and soon, you can guess what the majority of people in this country will be. Lets put a stop to it. Give that poor child to a family who wants it, and can take care of it, and raise it to be a decent person. We dont need another Crystal on this planet.

Matt, Just what are the "complete" facts?
    1) Crystal has a baby.
    2) Crystal takes drugs.
    3) Crystal neglects and endangers the baby on videotape.
    4) Crystal won't get a job.
    5) Crystal doesn't pay fines.
    6) Crystal won't report to her probation officer.
    7) Crystal has had 6 months to comply
Bigotry and close-mindedness has nothing to do with this. Do you need the smoking gun (dead baby) before action should be taken? Do you understand that this case just refers to the activity to which she was actually caught at? Who knows what else she has or has not done to or for that baby. A civilized society has an obligation to defend the helpless not enable and coddle the self-destructive. Crystal, although young, is an adult. There is no excuse for doing anything that even resembles what she is accused of. Sure spend my tax dollars and give her another chance. But who is going to give the baby another chance? You? It is apparent to anyone with common sense that Crystal comes first to Crystal. Equating common sense to bigotry is incredibly ignorant.
