Cyclones roll in UNI-Dome return, 42-7
CEDAR FALLS -- The Harlan Community Cyclones moved within one win of a 12th state football championship on Monday, scoring 42 unanswered points to rout Carroll, 42-7, in a Class 3-A playoff semifinal at the UNI-Dome. Back to the Dome!

      HARLAN -- Harlan Community's football team secured a place in the state semi-finals with a hard-fought 21-14 win over Sioux City Heelan Friday night at Merrill Field. At left, the Cyclones clap for Heelan players and fans as they accept a trophy at the field Friday. At right, Luke Lansman (31) and Dan Schaben celebrate the victory.
      The Cyclones now play Carroll at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16 at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. Tickets are on sale at the high school principals office for $6. Harlan Community will be the visiting team and fans will sit on the west side of the Dome. There is also a $5 parking fee for parking in the lots. (Photos by Mike Oeffner)

Ag community asked to honor load limits
      COUNTY -- Once again...a friendly reminder from the Shelby County Engineer's Office, and one that could save local farmers from having to dip into their wallets.
      The harvest is under way, albeit behind schedule, and local officials are hoping the agricultural community remembers load limits on bridges and county roads. Take that extra step to go a little farther around to avoid damaging the county's road infrastructure, and obey grain cart and semi load limits, officials say.

Officials Shelby County Christmas tree donated

      HARLAN -- The holiday season is just around the corner, and on Tuesday, Nov. 3, Harlan City and Harlan Municipal Utilities crews put in place the official Shelby County Christmas tree for the 26th consecutive year.
      The tree this year was donated by David Davis, Harlan, and was located on McKinley St.

H1N1 clinics to be held
      HARLAN -- On Thursday, Nov. 12 there will be an H1N1 flu vaccination clinic held at the Shelby County Public Health Office from 1-4 p.m., or until supply is depleted. There will also be a clinic on Wednesday, Nov. 18 from 2-7 p.m., or until supply is depleted, at the Public Health Office.
