Officials say depositors' money safe at City State Bank
Bank officials sought to clarify published reports that Ogden BancShares, Inc., a registered bank holding company that owns City State Bank here, Ames Community Bank, Community Bank of Boone and Vision Bank of Iowa, West Des Moines, and various nonbank subsidiaries, has entered into a written agreement with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and the Iowa Division of Banking, Superintendent of Banking, designed "to correct certain deficiencies . . . relating to safety and soundness." Incumbents Conklin, Reimers are re-elected to city council

Incumbent city councilmen Lyle Conklin and Brian Reimers were re-elected in the city elections Tuesday. Conklin received 283 votes; Reimers, 244 votes. Not elected was Darren Huntley who received 158 votes. The figures are unofficial.

Keith Berg was elected Ogden mayor Tuesday as he received 204 votes. A total of 396 citizens cast ballots. The other candidates: David Huntley, 131; Jason Moorman, 31; Brian Jennings, 26. Berg will take office Jan. 1, 2010, replacing Mayor Mark Trueblood who did not seek re-election. These figures are unofficial.

Hometown Food and Fuel closed
Customers who arrived at Hometown Food and Fuel Saturday were surprised to see the windows covered with brown paper and a sign on the door saying the store was temporarily closed.
The business sold pizza, sandwiches, daily specials, ice cream, cold drinks homemade bakery goods and newspapers, among other items.

Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Boone Campus students Lando McPherson (left) and Ashlei Pritchard, both of Ogden, rehearse a scene for the upcoming DMACC Boone Campus Drama Department production of Murder Go Round by Fred Carmichael. The comedy will be performed at Friday and Saturday, Nov. 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the DMACC Boone Campus Theatre under the direction of Drama and Speech Professor Kay Mueller. Tickets may be purchased at the door. DMACC students receive free admission.
