ROCKY HILL - Mother Nature could not keep people from their pasta. Facing snowy conditions, the Senior Pasta Dinner Jan. 28 went better than expected according to Rita Cavallaro. She said the event raised approximately $2,000 for this year's Project Graduation, an alcohol-free, all-night party held for seniors at Rocky Hill High School on graduation night.

West Hartford native rescued from Port-au-Prince rubble after quake
West Hartford native Rick Santos was inside a hotel lobby in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on Jan. 12 when he saw the ceiling come crashing down. Seconds later he was trapped in an 8-foot-by-5-foot tomb, but still alive. For the next 55 hours, Santos and other colleagues would be trapped in complete darkness with no food or water while they hoped for a rescue.

WETHERSFIELD - The orange "F" on his blue cap and his orange tie with diagonal, criss-crossing blue stripes said it all. But, it was his signature at precisely 2:30 p.m. on National Signing Day that made it official. Tyler Murphy is a Florida Gator.

As the auditions for Newington's Got Talent! began, 20 acts had signed up. By the time they were over, more than twice that many acts had performed on the stage of the Town Hall Council Chambers. There was everything from singers and dancers to a magic act and a martial-arts team.
