OXFORD - Police reported that a business sign at 451 Oxford Road was knocked down by a driver who evaded the scene. The incident occurred overnight on January 29. OXFORD - Police said a vehicle operated by Roger M. Bogin, 65, of 113 Nettletown Hollow Rd., Bethlehem, slid on an ice and snow-covered parking lot and hit a chain link lift gate at the Waterbury Oxford Airport on January 28.
The gate sustained substantial damage. No security breach issues were reported, police said.

OXFORD - Police reported that a vehicle operated by Dean Miller, 39, of 14 Big Dipper Dr., Seymour, was traveling east on Greenbriar Road on January 28, and approaching the intersection at Riggs Street, when his vehicle slid on the snow-covered road and traveled across both lanes of Riggs Street before coming to rest against the curb along the left travel portion.
A vehicle traveling south on Riggs Street, operated by Mary Becker, 69, of 333 Fairway Dr., struck the curbing as she swerved to the right to avoid hitting Mr. Miller's vehicle. Neither driver was injured. No other details were available.

OXFORD - Police reported that Karen L. Tannenholz, 54, of 270 Main St. South, Woodbury, struck from behind a vehicle operated by Paul D. Cirello, 64, of 925 Oronoke Rd., Waterbury, at the intersection of Routes 67 and 42.
Mr. Cirello's vehicle was stopped and facing south on Route 67 and waiting to turn left to Route 42 when it was struck on the passenger side rear.
No enforcement action was indicated.

OXFORD - A Seymour driver was cited on January 29 following a two-vehicle accident on Route 67.
Police said Michael Booze, 43, of 411 South Main St., Seymour, was pulling onto Route 67 from a commercial parking lot at 231 Oxford Rd. and attempting to head north when his vehicle was struck by a southbound vehicle operated by Albert White, 59, of 168 Fieldstone Terrace, Naugatuck.
Mr. Booze received an infraction for failure to grant the right of way from a commercial driveway.

OXFORD - A local driver was cited on January 28 following a two-vehicle accident on Route 34.
Police said Anca Stacescu-Ghelmegeanu, 42, of 156 Good Hill Rd., was traveling south when her vehicle crossed to the northbound lane and struck the driver side of a northbound vehicle operated by Rayna Naelerio, 31, of 18 Hull St., Ansonia.
Ms.Stacescu-Ghelmegeanu's vehicle then continued traveling south, went off the road and had a secondary impact with two tree stumps.
Ms. Stacescu-Ghelmegeanu received an infraction for traveling to fast for conditions.

BETHLEHEM - According to police, Jason A. Wilkes, 39, of 234 Weekeepeemee Rd., was arrested at 5:16 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, for disorderly conduct and interfering with emergency calls.
He was issued a $5,000 bond and a Tuesday, January 26, court date.

WOODBURY - Police are investigating vandalism to a motor vehicle that was parked at a residence on Washington Road, according to a 3 p.m. Sunday, January 31, police report.

WOODBURY - According to police, Julius Smotroff, 87, of 3 Carriage Lane, was given a verbal warning for unsafe movement from a stopped position, after a 3:49 p.m. Monday, February 1, two-car accident on Transylvania Road.
Also involved was Rebecca Greco, 43, of 37 Hickory St., Terryville. No injuries were reported.
The report stated that Ms. Greco and Mr. Smotroff were stopped, with Ms. Greco's car in front of Mr. Smotroff's car. Ms. Greco moved forward, then stopped, to obtain a clearer sight line, according to police.
The report stated that Mr. Smotroff moved forward and stopped, then said his foot slipped off the brake, causing his vehicle to strike the rear of Ms. Greco's vehicle.
Her car sustained minor damage to its rear bumper. Mr. Smotroff's car sustained minor damage to its front bumper, headlamp, hood and right front fender, according to police.

WOODBURY - Police reported that Thomas Venderosa, 54, of 745 Main St. North, was given a written warning for following too closely, after a 7:58 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, two-car accident on Main Street South.
Also involved was Mary Hamor, 57, of 340 Minortown Rd. There were no reported injuries.
Both were southbound on Main Street South. According to police, Mrs. Hamor stopped due to a school bus with its yellow lights flashing, when Mr. Venderosa's car struck Mrs. Hamor's vehicle.
Both cars sustained minor damage and were driven from the scene.

SOUTHBURY - Police reported that between 11 p.m. on January 28 and 6 a.m. on January 29, an attempt was made to gain access to a garage at a residence on Bucks Hill Road.

NEWTOWN - Police said a youthful offender was a passenger in a vehicle they stopped for failure to drive right on Route 25 at 8:45 p.m. on January 31.
Police charged the youthful offender with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. They released the youthful offender on a written promise to appear in court on February 22.

NEWTOWN - Police reported an altercation at 286 South Main Street at 3 p.m. on January 31. They arrested Jerry Iodice, 555 West Purchase Rd., Southbury.
Police allege that Mr. Iodice caused the verbal altercation with another customer at the gas station because the customer refused to move his car.
Police released Mr. Iodice on a $400 cash bond with a court date of February 11.

NEWTOWN - The Newtown Police Department says they are investigating several incidents of vandalism that occurred between the evening of January 30 and morning of January 31.
They said person(s) used red spray paint on several structures in the Taunton Hill Road area.

NEWTOWN - Police said that John L. Donaldson, 160 Macarther Dr., Waterbury, was stopped at a traffic control signal at the intersection of Wasserman Way and Trades Lane at 9:32 a.m. on January 29.
Police indicated that Sharon L. Cohen, 2 Old Farm Rd., New Fairfield, hit the rear of Mr. Donaldson's vehicle. Police charged Ms. Cohen with failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

NEWTOWN - Police reported that Albert Zellers, 59 Mount Pleasant Rd., was northbound on South Main Street in the southbound lane at 2:36 p.m. on January 29.
Police said that Lawrence Mix, 9 Old Woods Rd., Brookfield, was traveling south. Mr. Mix swerved to avoid hitting Mr. Zellers and the two vehicles made contact. Mr. Zellers continued northbound in the southbound lane after striking the wire-rope guard rail.
Police indicated that Harvey Weitzel, 250 Wolfpit Ave., Norwalk, was traveling south in the proper lane and stopped to avoid a collision with Mr. Zellers. The front of a vehicle driven by Jernel Paul, 133 Ash St., Bridgeport, hit Mr. Weitzel's vehicle.
Police charged Mr. Zeller with failure to drive right.

NEWTOWN - According to police, Virginia Malocco-Cabeleira, 65 Turkey Hill Rd., Sandy Hook, was pulling into a parking space near a parked car at 11:48 a.m. on January 29.
The operator of the parked car opened the driver's door and the door struck the grill of Ms. Malocco-Cabeleira's vehicle.
Police took no enforcement action because it occurred on private property.

NEWTOWN - Police said Dana M. Wark, of 25 Underhill Rd., Sandy Hook, was southbound on Underhill Road at 3:57 p.m. on January 28, and that Mitchell A. Falconer, 49 Manor Rd., Southbury, was traveling northbound.
Both cars came to a section of the road that is narrow and not passable by two cars at the same time. The section of road is such that cars approaching it from opposite ends cannot see each other.
The two vehicles collided with each other and sustained minor damage.

NEWTOWN - Police reported that Robert Harris, 35 Pole Bridge Rd., Sandy Hook, was westbound on Riverside Road at 8 a.m. on January 28. Police said that Niccole Franklin, of 61 Tomahawk Tr., Sandy Hook, was behind Mr. Harris.
According to police, when Mr. Harris stopped for a red light, Ms. Franklin slid on snow and the front bumper of her car struck the rear bumper of Mr. Harris' vehicle.
Police charged Ms. Franklin with failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

NEWTOWN - According to police, Mark J. Briganti, of 9 Shut Rd., was southbound on Philo Curtis Road at 8:31 p.m. on January 28. They said that Aaron Urbain, of 88 Forest Dr., Sandy Hook, was behind Mr. Briganti.
Police reported that when Mr. Briganti slowed for traffic, he began to slide on snow and came to a rest perpendicular to the roadway. Mr. Urbain attempted to stop but also began to slide and struck Mr. Briganti's vehicle.
Police issued a verbal warning to Mr. Urbain for traveling too fast for conditions.

NEWTOWN - Police said Deborah S. Assetta, of 84 Secret Hollow Rd., Monroe, and Victoria Schrath, P.O. Box 178, Spencertown, N.Y., were westbound on Berkshire Road at 8:12 p.m. on January 28.
Police indicated that while stopped for traffic, Ms. Schrath was hit from the rear by Ms. Assetta.

NEWTOWN - Police reported that Cassandra Damato, of 220 Hollow Swamp Rd., Southbury, was traveling south on Hawleyville Road at 9:19 a.m. on January 28.
Police said that Ms. Damato slid off the roadway and to the right shoulder. The front passenger side bumper of her vehicle struck a tree.
Police issued Ms. Damato a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.

NEWTOWN - According to police, Siriporn Leemanan-Mysore, of 15 Housatonic Dr., Sandy Hook, was parked on the eastbound shoulder of Church Hill Road at 9:21 a.m. on January 28.
As Ms. Leemanan-Mysore attempted to pull into the eastbound lane, the vehicle began to slide on snow and struck a parked car.
Police gave Ms. Leemanan-Mysore a verbal warning for unsafe movement of a parked vehicle.

NEWTOWN - Police said Jeanne Malota, of 3 Erin Ln., was westbound on Church Hill Road at 9:52 a.m. on January 28. Prah Jbzef, IV, of 32 Brennan Rd., Southbury, was behind Ms. Malota.
When Ms. Malota stopped in heavy traffic, Mr. Jbzef's vehicle struck hers. Police gave Mr. Jbzef a verbal warning for following too close.

NEWTOWN - Police reported that George Matern, of 240 Whisconier Rd., Brookfield, was eastbound on Walnut Tree Road at 8:34 a.m. on January 28, and that Martha List, of 11 West St., was westbound.
Police said that Mr. Matern was negotiating a curve and slid into the westbound lane, striking Ms. List's vehicle. Police issued Mr. Matern a verbal warning for traveling too fast for conditions.

NEWTOWN - According to police, Edward Geoghegan, of 24 Park Ln., turned himself into Newtown Police Department at 5:30 p.m. on January 28. Police had issued a warrant and charged Mr. Geoghegan with disorderly conduct on January 8.
They released him on a written promise to appear in court on January 29.

NEWTOWN - Police said Jennifer M. Callery, of 6 Elena Ln., was traveling west on Pearl Street at 9:05 a.m. on January 28.
According to police, Ms. Callery skidded on the roadway and hit a rock, mailbox and parked car at 16 Pearl St. Police charged Ms. Callery with traveling too fast for conditions.

NEWTOWN - Police reported that Robert M. Toth, 14 Quaker Ridge Rd., Bethel, was operating a town snow plow on Turkey Hill Road at 12:58 a.m. on January 28.
Police said that Duane Trevail, 312 S. Main St., was behind the truck and when Mr. Toth backed up, the rear of the truck struck the front of Mr. Trevail's vehicle.
Police gave Mr. Toth a verbal warning for unsafe backing.

NEWTOWN - Police reported that Carmen Bell, 7 Winton Farm Rd., Stefanie Winkler, 51 Pine Tree Hill Rd., and Frederick Gush, 16 Williams Rd., Monroe, were traveling north on Pine Tree Hill Road at 8:57 a.m. on January 28.
When the driver of lead car, Ms. Winkler, applied her brakes, Mr. Gush, who was behind her, started to slide on snow. He attempted to avoid contact with Ms. Winkler's vehicle and slid into a tree off the road.
Ms. Bell was behind Mr. Gush, was unable to stop and slid into Ms. Winkler's vehicle. Then, Ms. Bell's vehicle slid off the road.
Police took no enforcement action due to the hazardous road conditions.

NEWTOWN - According to police, they stopped Patrick McNulty, 58 Hilldale Dr., Sandy Hook, at 5:23 p.m. on January 28.
Police charged Mr. McNulty with possession of marijuana, operating while under the influence, failure to obey a stop sign and failure to signal. They released him on a $5,000 bond with a court date of February 11.

NEWTOWN - Police said Richard Tarantino, 14 Mt. Nebo Rd., was traveling north on Boggs Hill Road at 9:41 a.m. on January 28. As Mr. Tarantino negotiated a curve, he slid to the right on snow and ice, off the road and into a ditch.
Police issued him a verbal warning for traveling too fast for conditions.

NEWTOWN - Police reported that Marcia Bowen, 2A Honey Ln., was stopped, stuck on slippery road surface at 9:15 a.m. on January 28. Robert Damberg, 50 Spring Tr., struck her vehicle.
Police charged Mr. Damberg

NEWTOWN - According to police, Nicholas Magoulas, 225 Pastors Walk, Monroe, was westbound on Bears Hill Road at 8:44 a.m. on January 28. Elizabeth Frassinelli, 58 Bears Hill Rd., was eastbound.
When Mr. Magoulas was trying to climb a steep incline, he lost control of the vehicle on the snow and the left front corner of his vehicle struck the left front corner of Ms. Frassinelli's vehicle.
Police took no enforcement action due to the hazardous road conditions.

NEWTOWN - Police said they arrested a juvenile who was involved in an altercation with another student at 1:15 p.m. on January 27. They arrested him and charged him with third degree assault.
Police released the juvenile into his parents' custody with a court date of February 8.

NEWTOWN - Police reported that Sandra Eustace, 16 Tomlinson Rd., Woodbury, was westbound on Berkshire Road at 8:04 a.m. on January 27. Ms. Eustace struck a patch of ice and began to skid into the eastbound lane.
She attempted to correct the skid and crossed back into the westbound lane. She struck a stone ledge.
Police issued Ms. Eustace a verbal warning for a restricted turn.

NEWTOWN - According to police, Robert J. Sonnenstuhl, Chestnut Tree Hill, Oxford, was westbound on Sugar Street at 6:35 a.m. January 27. A deer ran into the roadway and Mr. Sonnenstuhl struck it with his vehicle.

NEWTOWN - Police said they arrested Alexander Stevenson, 35 Rock Glen Rd., Danbury, at 8:30 p.m. on January 27.
After investigation, police determined that Mr. Stevenson had taken two beverages from a concession stand without paying for them, and then refused to leave the property when asked by the manager.
Police charged him with first degree criminal trespass, sixth degree larceny and breach of peace.
They released Mr. Stevenson on a $400 cash bond with a court date of February 10.

NEWTOWN - Police reported that Melissa S. Fatibene, 50 Underhill Rd., Sandy Hook, was traveling west on Riverside Road at 8:38 a.m. on January 26. She told police she struck a pothole that caused her right front tire to go flat.
Dodgingtown Garage towed her vehicle from the scene. Police placed a traffic cone to warn other drivers and notified the highway department.

NEWTOWN - Police reported that Kenton Lord, 35 Cherry St., Sandy Hook, turned himself into Newtown Police Department on an outstanding warrant at 5:52 p.m. on January 26.
Police had charged him with third degree criminal mischief and alleged he damaged a window at the Mobil gas station on Church Hill Road. They released Mr. Lord on a $100 bond with a court date of February 9.

NEWTOWN - According to police, William H. Snyder, 105 Walnut Tree Hill Rd., Sandy Hook, was westbound on Church Hill Road at 9:43 a.m. on January 23. Jeffrey D. Barto, 20 Bradley Ln., Sandy Hook, was behind Mr. Snyder.
Police said that Mr. Snyder stopped suddenly when the car in front of him stopped to turn into a gas station without signaling. Mr. Barto was unable to stop and hit Mr. Snyder's vehicle.
Police issued Mr. Barto a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

NEWTOWN - Police said they responded to a physical altercation between a juvenile and his parents on January 23. They charged the juvenile with disorderly conduct and third degree assault.

NEWTOWN - According to police, they arrested William Bruno, 1 Borough Ln., after a motor vehicle stop at 4:44 p.m. on January 23.
They charged him with failure to display a front license plate, misuse of a registration marker, operating under suspension and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
Police released Mr. Bruno on a $100 cash bond with a court date of February 9.

NEWTOWN - Police said they stopped Karen Blakeley, 20 Acra Rd., Waterbury, for crossing the center lines on Mount Pleasant Road at 1:07 a.m. on January 22. They charged her with driving in the right hand lane and operating under the influence.
Police released Ms. Blakeley on a $100 cash bond with a court date of February 10.

NEWTOWN - Police reported that Robert Buchanan, Little Brook Ln., was southbound on South Main Street at 10:39 p.m. on January 22.
The vehicle behind Mr. Buchanan passed him in the right lane and struck the passenger side of his vehicle. It continued on without stopping.
Police describe the unidentified vehicle as a dark colored SUV.

NEWTOWN - According to police, they responded to a one-car collision on Poverty Hollow Road at 2:13 p.m. on January 22.
They charged the driver, Dan Brenkman, 138 Floodbridge Rd., Southbury, with operating under the influence and making a restricted turn. Police released him on a $100 cash bond with a court date of February 5.

NEWTOWN - Police said Wendy Leon-Gambetta, 18 Saw Mill Ridge Rd., was westbound on Washington Avenue at 6:11 p.m. on January 22. Duane Dickerson, 129 Toddy Hill Rd., was behind Ms. Leon-Gambetta.
When she slowed to make a left turn onto Church Hill Road, Mr. Dickerson also slowed but struck the rear of her vehicle.
Police issued Mr. Dickerson a written warning for traveling too close.
