Three Watertown residents to dance
at Knicks pre-game show
Brieanna Antonio, MacKenzie Tearman and Stephanie St. Germain, all from Watertown, will be among 28 dancers from Terryville-based Reach for the Stars to dance during the Sunday, December 6, pre-game show for the New York Knicks.

Hard work and dedication have paid off for many of the dancers at Reach for the Stars Academy of Dance in Terryville. They have been invited to provide the pre-game show, opening for the Knicks; Major League Basketball Team; at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Sunday, December 6.

When the dance troupe boards the train, Brieanna Antonio, MacKenzie Tearman and Stephanie St. Germain, all from Watertown, will be amoung them. Over 100 girls were considered to make up this team, but only 28 were chosen.

Mattatuck museum notes Discovery Club program
WATERBURY - Hear and play musical instruments from around the world from globe-trotting musician Chris Merwin at the Mattatuck Museum Arts & History Center's Discovery Club from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 29.

Kids will be introduced to a variety of curious instruments, learning the history of how each came into being and the culture of the country from which each came. They will have the opportunity to play instruments, sing, play calypso Simon Says, and do the limbo.

JOB DAY -

Superintendent of Schools Karen Baldwin recently visited Mrs. Rowan's first grade class at John Trumbull Primary School, as they celebrated Job Day.

Students dressed in costumes representing a career they might like to pursue.

Ms. Baldwin told the children about her job and listened as they shared their own career aspirations.


STUDENT COUNCIL -

Pictured, The St. Mary Magdalen Student Council was recently elected for the 2009-2010 school year. The council consists of students in grades one through eight and is led by the grade eight class officers.

Teacher moderators this year are Ms. Lisa McGuire, Mrs. Debra Mulhall & Mrs. Kim Chepulis. The council student leaders are in charge of organizing service projects, school liturgies and prayer services, and sponsor outreach programs for the needy of our community and world.
