Thomaston police to investigate opera house
bookkeeping; 'Not pin-pointing one person,'
say police

THOMASTON - The Board of Finance held a special emergency meeting on Wednesday, January 27, to discuss the Thomaston Opera House's audit. While the Board of Finance decided it will not further pursue a forensic audit of the original TOH audit, Frank Meaney, a resident of Thomaston decided to bring this matter to the police, resulting in a preliminary investigation.

The investigation has been started by both the Thomaston Police Department and the State Attorney General's office.

Council charges Public Buildings Committee
with Town Hall roof; Legal opinion sought
on minority appointments
TOWN HALL — Due to health and safety concerns, the Watertown Town Council charged the Public Buildings Committee with the replacement or repair of the Town Hall roof. (Times Photo, Henry).

WATERTOWN - The Watertown Town Council charged the Public Buildings Committee with the replacement or repair of the Town Hall roof and with the conversion of Heminway School to Town offices at a meeting on February 1.

According to Mary Ann Rosa, the Town Council vice chairman, water is running down into various offices. She said there are health and safety hazards and "we've got to do something immediately."

Watertown woman seeking damages
against town, police; Gavallas calls description 'very inaccurate'

WATERTOWN - Bibbiana Testa of Oakville is seeking damages from Police Chief John Gavallas, Town Clerk Lisa Dalton and the Town of Watertown for failure to respond to a rescue call, according to a legal notice filed with the Watertown town clerk.

Chief Gavallas said the description of the occurrence, as filed by Ms. Testa, is "very inaccurate." Chief Gavallas had no further comment about the pending case.
