Airport provides a benefit to area: Having spent nearly 27 years of my life flying airplanes in the Chetek area and North America for pleasure and professionally, I have concluded that flying is a tremendous career, business tool, educational tool, benefit for medical emergencies and hobby. Consolidation is the only answer: Chetek currently has a declining student enrollment. A declining enrollment means less funding from the state. Less funding from the state means that either curriculum gets cut or taxes go up. If programming gets cut, studies show that enrollment declines and we end up in a vicious, downward spiral. BACC orchestra concert coming: On Nov. 1 at 1 p.m., the St. Croix Valley Symphony Orchestra will be performing at the Barron Area Community Center.
