The Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall came to the village of Almena this past weekend, with opening ceremonies Thursday evening in Shadyside Park. Special speaker was Captain Dane Deutsch, Air Force veteran from Rice Lake. Following is Captain Deutsch's. address.

Monarch invasion Judy Evitch thought she was in the middle of a science fiction episode when saw swarms of Monarch butterflies in her yard the weekend of Aug. 20. She says it reminded her of Alfred Hitchcock's film, "The Birds." On the evening of Aug. 24, she saw large numbers of Monarchs vying for space on pine branches. The next day they had moved to a butternut tree. By Thursday they were gone, probably on their way to South America. Evitch's family has a 6.5 acre hobby farm three miles north of Barron.
