Wolves look to avenge Kuemper in playoff rematch BONDURANT -- The IKM-Manning football team's long road trip to Bondurant was a happy one Monday night as the Wolves took care of Bondurant-Farrar by the score of 35-18 in a Class 2-A first-round playoff game. Jerad Croghan led the Wolves' double-wing rushing attack with 177 yards and four touchdowns on 25 carries. Croghan scored twice as IKM-M took a 15-0 lead early in the second quarter and later added two fourth-quarter TD's after the Bluejays pulled within 22-18 after three. The No. 8-ranked Wolves, now 10-1 overall, rushed the ball 60 times for 320 yards all told and outgained B-F in total offense, 448-323. Quarterback Bryce Irlbeck completed 8-of-11 passes for 128 yards, including a 22-yard scoring toss to Rick Blake just 11 seconds prior to halftime. For the Bluejays (8-3), Ryley Pruismann hit Patrek Tufts on TD passes of 27 and 30 yards. Down 22-6, Bondurant-Farrar scored twice in a matter of 45 seconds late in the third period to put some pressure on the Wolves, who were up to the challenge. "This was a good win over a fine Bluejay team," said IKM-Manning co-head coach Floyd Forman. "We played well most of the night except for part of the third quarter, but rebounded in the fourth quarter. The line did a good job opening holes and pass blocking. Now it's time to get ready for Kuemper." IKM-M will host the No. 11 Knights (9-2) in a 2-A quarterfinal contest Friday night (7:00 p.m.) in Manning. The game is a rematch from district play September 18, when Kuemper handed the Wolves their only loss, 35-28 in an overtime thriller. A win would send IKM-Manning to the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls for its second straight appearance in the 2-A semifinals.
