"I felt like we finally put a (complete game) together - solid pitching, good defense and obviously our hitting came through," said A-H-S-T head coach Jason Holst. "The way we played tonight is what I expect to be like. We played well."
With the score tied 2-2, the Vikings sent 13 batters to the plate in the bottom half of the fifth, scoring eight runs on seven hits. Key blows included Reece Schueman's RBI double, Cory Maassen's two-run single and an RBI triple by Dusty Redinbaugh.
Maassen also had a double and a triple of his own, finishing 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI. Schueman went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, Nathan Pigsley was 2-for-4 with two RBI and Gunner Gilland was 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Josh Krohn (1-for-4) and Hunter Nelsen both added two stolen bases for the Vikings, who had six as a team.
On the mound, Jacobsen improved to 3-4, allowing only one earned run, walking four and striking out nine Woodbine batters. The Tigers closed shop at 10-16 overall.
Next up for A-H-S-T is a district semifinal at Treynor Thursday night against the host Cardinals, who ousted West Harrison, 6-3, on Tuesday. The Vikings lost a 15-0 game to Treynor in the regular season but won the rematch, 5-4.
The rubber-game winner will advance to Saturday's 7:00 p.m. district final at Dunlap, taking on either Odebolt-Arthur or Boyer Valley.
The Substate 8 final will be Tuesday night at Coon Rapids.
