WALNUT -- Elk Horn-Kimballton's four-run rally in the top of the fifth was enough to produce a 4-2 win at Walnut Tuesday night in Rolling Hills Conference softball action.

The Lady Danes improved to 8-6 on the year and the Warriors dropped to 4-14.

Walnut scored its two runs in the third inning, sparked by Jenny Petersen's leadoff triple and an RBI single from Dakota Brockman, who later stole home on a successful double-steal.

Lexie Waymire got EH-K going in the fifth with an RBI double that scored Krystal Lake on a close play at the plate. Waymire scored from third on a wild pickoff attempt to tie the score, and the Lady Danes took advantage of some Walnut miscues in the field to plate two more runs.

Stacey Mortensen outdueled Walnut's Sally Liston for the win in a battle of freshman pitchers. Mortensen escaped second-and-third, one-out jams in both the second and fourth innings and finished off a 1-2-3 seventh by snagging a line drive.
