CEDAR FALLS -- After facing the likes of A-D-M's Gavin Glenn and Bishop Heelan's Zach McCabe in the first two playoff rounds, Harlan Community has grown accustomed to dealing with strong-armed quarterbacks and talented fleets of receivers.
For their next challenge, the Cyclones' heralded defense will face all that with the added bonus of chasing around a quarterback who can also run the football.

HCHS yields 405 passing yards, but finds a way to win
HARLAN -- For 48 nail-biting minutes, Harlan Community and Sioux City Bishop Heelan traded punches in an epic battle of Class 3-A football heavyweights.
It was only fitting, though, that on a night of unpredictable momentum swings and big plays, the final knock-out blow was delivered by a 150-pound, sophomore backup safety.
Clinging to a seven-point lead with Heelan on the attack, the top-ranked Cyclones kept their unbeaten season alive Friday night when Lucas Musich intercepted Zach McCabe's 35th and final pass attempt in the endzone with 39 seconds remaining.
One snap of the football later, HCHS finally clinched its return to the UNI-Dome, hanging on for a 21-14 victory in a thrilling 3-A quarterfinal playoff game before a large Merrill Field crowd. Full Story

IKM-Manning will face B-H/RV in 2-A semifinals
MANNING -- IKM-Manning killed two birds with one stone on Friday night, avenging its only loss of the season and also punching a second straight trip to the UNI-Dome with a 28-14 win over Kuemper Catholic in the Class 2-A playoff quarterfinals. Full Story

AVOCA -- For the second year in a row, an outstanding A-H-S-T football season ended at the hands of Madrid in the Class A playoff quarterfinals.
Gaining all of their 444 yards on the ground on 65 carries, the fifth-ranked Tigers also brought a dominating defense to Avoca last Friday night and scored the first 35 points of a 42-15 win over the No. 2-ranked Vikings. Full Story
