EARLING -- Mark Albert Langenfeld, 85, Earling, died October 28 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan. Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 31 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earling. A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be held Friday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. at the church. Visitation is Friday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan and from 4-9 p.m. at the church in Earling. Langenfeld is survived by his wife, Helen (Stinn) Langenfeld of Earling; daughters Kim (Gary) Gundy of LaVista, Neb. and Jill (Robin) Jacobsen of Forsythe, Ill.; sons Dean (Marsha) Langenfeld of Earling and Todd (Ann) Langenfeld of Earling; sisters Ruth Haberkorn of Long Island, NY, Cornelia Coenen of Omaha and Edna (Kenny) Schafer of Earling; and brothers Owen Langenfeld of Earling, Mike (Phyllis) Langenfeld of Omaha, Vern (Carolyn) Langenfeld of St. Louis, Mo. and Gail (Pauline) Langenfeld of Hartland, Wi. Langenfeld was past-president and current chairman of the board of Farmers Trust & Savings Bank. The bank is headquartered in Earling with market locations in Harlan and Woodbine. The bank was chartered in 1892 as the German Savings Bank, and in 1917 the name was changed to Farmers Trust & Savings Bank. Langenfeld was a longtime community volunteer and leader for Earling and Shelby County.
