More snow fell on Monday, adding to the already large piles of snow around Marshall County, and a number of area residents have already or are planning in the near future to get a break from winter weather by traveling to warmer climates. Have you already taken or do you plan to take a trip this winter to someplace warm?

Does anyone recognize these 30-year-olds? Looks like a birthday party! Happy Birthday, J & M on the 11th and 17th.
Readers did pretty well on two of the three mystery photos in the Britton Journal's Photo Trivia feature of three weeks ago.
Joyce Nelson and Nila Carpenter both provided information on the group of older students. It was of the Kidder freshman class of 1953-54, another Kidder photo supplied by Corrine Zorn of Murfreesboro, TN. Zorn also provided us with identification of the group.
In front left to right are Phyllis Schuur, Patsy Chapin, Carol Bosse, Juanita Wanous, and Corrine Oland. Back row Judy Greeno, Wilfred Chapin, teacher Viola Kemp, David Myklegard, and Patty Smart.
Three readers contacted us in regard to the basketball picture supplied by Wayne Buhl. The photo is of the 1965 Britton 'B' squad.
"I picked out Lyle Pearson right away and thought it was Coach Roggenbuck. But I had to go to Arlin for the others," wrote Kris (Nelson) Likness of Yankton. "But I cannot lie. Arlin guessed it was 1965 and knew quite a few of the boys. Plus, we happened to have the BHS 1965 yearbook."
We also heard from Greg Kristofferson of Carrabelle, FL, and Judy (Wilgers) Van Houte of Lakewood, WA, recognized her brother.
"I enjoy the photos, although I rarely recognize anyone," said Van Houte. "But this week I picked out my brother."
Team members from left to right are Curtis Foster, David Brown, Donnie Stadler, Bob Manecke, Wayne Buhl, Dale Wilgers, Gene Boone, Gordon Meeker, Mike Stadler, Jim Freudenthal, Lyle Pearson, Jim Motl, and Coach Roggenbuck in front.
The photo of the young students and teacher was also identified by Kris Likness.
"That photo was my class from Kidder. We were in first grade and Mrs. Corrine Elmore was our teacher. I believe my Mom took that picture sometime in the fall of my first grade year."
In front left to right are Kathy Ferguson, Debra Pitken, Victoria Scotting, Nancy Swanson, Kris Nelson, and Ruby Quamen. Second row Theodore Warkenthein, John Eye, and Larry Thorsness. Back row James Jeske, Dwayne Furman, Terry Brubakken, Richard Hemmah, Jon Nelson, and Mrs. Elmore.
We also had a couple of readers chip in with information on past mystery photos. Joyce Nelson corrected the name of the Kidder cook from the May 20 issue as Helga Johnson, not Hilda.
Gwyn (Dugdale) Jackson of the Britton Class of 1982 thought she recognized two of the girls in the photo of the kids and horse from May 20.
"For sure, two of the girls were the Schultz twins - Signe and Sonia (Class of 1983)," wrote Jackson. "I don't think it was at their farm or their Dad, though. Maybe it was at their cousins Karen and Bruce? I'd guess it was a birthday party.
We would encourage readers to send us old photos to use in our feature. Anyone with information on current or past photo mysteries may contact us by e-mail (journal@brittonsd.com), fax (605-448-2282), phone (605-448-2281) or mail (PO Box 69, Britton, SD 57430).
