It was a good night for incumbents in area city elections.
Veblen and Pierpont were the only area towns that had contested races.
In Veblen LaVonne Jacobson was elected to her fourth two-year term as mayor over challenger Ralph Parsons 48-33. It was also the fourth time that the two candiates had squared off for the mayor position.
In Ward I Ed Vrchota easily withstood a challenge from Kerry Anderson for the Veblen City Council slot 34-3.
A total of 82 of 156 eligible Veblen voters (53%) cast ballots in the mayoral race, while 37 of 56 eligible voters (66%) voted for the council position.
Mark Wika easily won re-election in Pierpont against a pair of challengers. He received 47 of the total 56 votes cast. Challengers Wayne Schmidt received six votes and Theresa Bistodeau three.
Pierpont had a 75 percent voter turnout with 56 of the eligible 75 voters going to the polls.
