Peewee Pitcher
Hurls No-Hitter
      Carter Deutsch of the Britton Blue Peewee baseball team threw a perfect game last week Wednesday.
      Deutsch fanned 11 batters and didn't' give up a hit or walk in the 5-0 victory over Webster Red. He also added a triple at the plate. Andrew Hardina added a double and single, and Willie Persell doubled.
      In other action the local club battled to a 0-0 tie with Groton Blue on July 2 and closed outs its season with a 6-1 win over Claremont on Thursday. Coach Pat Renner's crew ended with a 6-4-1 season mark.
      In the tie with Groton Blue Andrew Hardina went the distance on the mound, striking out 14 and also leading the team at the plate with a double and single.
      Against Claremont, Hardina ripped a pair of triples and a single, and Preston Jones doubled. Jones, Persell, and Chad Lang teamed up on the mound.

      The Britton Country Club held its annual Member-Guest Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
      Teams were scored based on a point system. Topping the morning group was Steve Smith and Jarrett Smith with 82 points, followed by a second place tie between Dave Beck and Tom Durland and Ray Johnson and Dave Fergeson with 78. Three teams tied for fourth with 74 points including Kervin Olson and Larry Johnson, Sherm Cutler and Frank Cutler, and Mike Oelkers and Herb Mundt.
      Alan Grupe and John Seiber won the afternoon group title with 81 points. Tom Opsahl and Jamie Dahl were second at 79, Dustin Ochsner and Kent Delaney third with 77 points, and Jeff Oelkers and Fuzz Helwig fourth with 76.
