Donald Wilber

Donald Morris Wilber, "Ol' Paint," 77, died Oct. 6, 2002, at Colorado Springs, CO.

He was born May 28, 1925, to Roger and Hazel (Thurston) Wilbert in Bath. He grew up there and attended school. He joined the U.S. Army in 1944 and was a member of the 343 RD Infantry, 86th Division during WWII. He was discharged in 1946.

He married Marilyn Douglas March 15, 1947, in Aberdeen.

He lived in the Bath and Aberdeen area until the mid 1970's when he moved to rural Britton. He moved to Colorado Springs in the mid 1990's to be near his son.

In addition to farming and ranching he also worked as a trucker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a long time breeder and showman of Paint and Pinto horses.

He was a member of the Paint Horse Association, Buckhorn Rodeo Association, and the American Legion Post of Kidder.

Survivors include a son, Dale (Lisa) Wilber, Colorado Springs; two daughters, Lynn (Carl) Anderson, Peyton, CO; and Cynthia (Lawrence) Igl, Aberdeen; his ex-wife of Peyton, CO; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and special friend Helen Grimli, Browns Valley, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
