**Jack Richter The Mass of Christian Burial for Jack Joseph Richter was held Tuesday, October 13 at First Lutheran Church of Britton, with Rev. Fr. John Brophy, celebrant. Burial was in the Britton Cemetery under the direction of the Price Funeral Chapel. Jack returned to heaven on Friday, October 9. 2009, at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 17 weeks. Jack Joseph Richter was born June 12, 2009 in Aberdeen to William Joseph "B.J." and Kyla Anne (Jorgensen) Richter. An insight into his short life can be found in an excerpt from a letter his mom and dad wrote: "When you came into this world, you let out one short cry and then settled contentedly into our arms. The doctor said from his experience, babies who calm themselves quickly are often easy-going, relaxed infants. This is how we came to know you, Jack. You were quick to smile or kick anxiously when you were greeted but more often, you were content with just the presence of those around you." Survivors include; his parents and his big brother, Will of Britton; his maternal grandparents, Richard and Cindy Jorgensen, Flandreau; his paternal grandparents, Bill and Linda Richter, Hecla; a maternal great-grandmother, Elaine Hanson, Brookings; a paternal great-grandfather, Dale Cutler, Mina Lake, and his extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins: Brenna and Ben LeBrun and their children, Cade, Brant and Bryson; Abby and Collin Jacobs; Allison and Darren Hamilton and their children, Madeline, Elizabeth, Josie and Nora; Rebecka and Brian Havlik and their children, Hannah, Katherine, Holden and Hayes; Gretchen Richter and Emily Richter. Preceding him in death were his maternal great-grandparents, his paternal great-grandparents and an uncle. An online guestbook and obituary are available at www.pricefuneralchapel.net. **Llea Moeckly Llea Moeckly, 70, died Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Wheatcrest Hills in Britton. Funeral services were held Monday, October 12 at Britton United Methodist Church with Rev. Deb Mack officiating. Burial was in the Britton Cemetery. Price Funeral Chapel of Britton was in charge of arrangements. Llea Rae Moeckly was born December 17, 1938, at Britton to Welby and Luzetta (Greeno) Moeckly. She grew up and attended school in Britton. She graduated from Britton High School in 1956 and from the University of Colorado in 1960. Llea worked as an elementary teacher in the Denver, CO area for 34 years. In 1998, she retired and moved back to Britton. In 2006 she moved to the family farm home where she had grown up. Llea was an active member of the Britton United Methodist Church. She belonged to P.E.O., many study clubs and Bible study groups. She served as a board member for the Britton Public Library and on the Wheatcrest Hills Advisory Board. She was an avid reader and had a keen sense of humor. Llea had a great fondness for nature, which was most deeply shown in her tremendous love of the cats and dogs that were a part of her life. Survivors include; her two sisters: Kay Wiggins, Syracuse, NY; Joy (Robert) Kloster, Vandalia, IL; her two brothers: Randall Moeckly, Britton; Kirk (Carol) Moeckly, Britton. She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece. **Darwin Johnson The funeral for Darwin Johnson, 86, was held Friday, October 9 at First Lutheran Church of Britton, with Reverends Sara and Terrill Sorensen officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Price Funeral Chapel of Britton was in charge of arrangements. Darwin died Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at Wheatcrest Hills in Britton. Darwin Odean Johnson was born December 24, 1922 at Kidder to John "Jack" and Helga (Bien) Johnson. As a youngster, he grew up and attended school there. He graduated from Kidder High School in 1942. At that time, he joined the U. S. Navy and served his country for the next two and a half years. Much of his time was spent in Guam. On February 8, 1943 he married Nyla Jean Glodrey at Britton. They made their home in Britton where Darwin owned and operated a dray line and hauling business for many years and later was in the salvage business. He also sold Morea liquid feed. After that, Darwin became a cattle buyer. He first worked for Greenly in Sioux Falls and later for Spencer Packing Co. His last job was with Iowa Beef Packers and retired at the age of 75 after over 30 years as a cattle buyer. In the early 1980's, he and Nyla moved to a home at Roy Lake. He remained there until becoming a resident at Wheatcrest Hills in 2002. Nyla passed away on May 16, 2004. Darwin was a member of the Lake City Lutheran Church, Britton Post #80 of the American Legion and Marshall Post #3507 of the V.F.W. He also belonged to the Masonic Lodge, the Shrine and the Marshall County Sportsman's Club. Darwin had a fondness for all animals and liked to collect antiques. He enjoyed bowling and hunting of all kinds, but was truly his happiest when he was hunting ducks. Survivors include; his three sons: Jack (Elaine) Johnson, Aberdeen; Jim (Darlene) Johnson, Aberdeen; Tim (Kathy) Johnson, Lake City; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Pat Brower, Good Year. AZ; Bonnie (Cliff) Olson, Britton; Isla Glodrey, Cody, WY. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter, a brother and a great-granddaughter. An online guestbook and obituary are available at www.pricefuneralchapel.net. **Marjorie Finley Marjorie Finley died October 10, 2009 at Avera St. Luke's in Aberdeen. Her funeral will be held on Friday, October 16 at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hecla, with Pastor Jay Haaland officiating. Special music will be provided by Janet Elsen, organist and Sandy Dinger, soloist. A prayer service will be held Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes, ND. An on-line guestbook may be signed at www.dahlstromfuneralhome.com Pallbearers will be Harley Hagstrom, Cary Landstrom, Keith Daly Colin Finley, Matt Heinzmann and Josh Torkelson. Honorary pallbearers will be Carrie Kerkhove, Dawn Landstrom, Jacinta Heinzmann, Erica Finley, and Roxanne Feiock. Marjorie Patricia Pikerine was born May 6, 1929 to Theodore Edward and Edna Marie Pikerine in Frederick. Marjorie attended a rural school for 8 years, and then attended high school in Hecla from which she graduated. She attended Northern State University in Aberdeen then taught in rural schools for 5 years. Marjorie was united in marriage to William Louis Finley July 10, 1951 in Aberdeen. They made their home near Hecla where Margie was a busy and active farm wife whose duties ranged from running equipment and doing chores to cooking for the men and everything in between. Margie was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hecla and was an active member of church circle. Margie also belonged to Hecla Study Club, was on the Portage Township Board for many years, and belonged to bridge and whist clubs. In her later years, Margie enjoyed Thursday coffee group with the ladies. Bill and Margie enjoyed traveling. They visited Hawaii, Spain, Africa, the Bahama's, and Mexico and spent their winters traveling in the southern United States. She enjoyed square dancing, boating at the river, playing cards, gardening, ceramics, china and oil painting, sewing, cooking, canning and making her own greeting cards. Survivors include; her husband, sister, Carol Ann (Pikerine) Burlingame, Ellendale, ND, and 4 children: Susan Doyle (Harley Hagstrom), Edina, MN, Deb Kohnen, Aberdeen, David (Connie) Finley, Oakes, ND, and Douglas Finley, Aberdeen; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two more (one boy and one girl) due to be born in the coming months. She was preceded in death by a daughter and by her parents. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be given to St. John's Lutheran Church in Hecla.
