LOIS ZIMMERMAN The funeral for Lois Zimmerman, 83, was held today, Wednesday, April 22 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church, rural Kidder. Reverends Sara and Terrill Sorensen officiated Music for the funeral was provided by Dana Tank, organist with Susie Smith and Terry Price, soloists. Burial was in the church cemetery Price Funeral Chapel, Britton, was in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers were Lois' grandchildren: Mike Smith, Bob Smith, Chris Smith, Lynnette Zimmerman, Jon Zimmerman, Garrett Zimmerman, Bradford Zimmerman. Honorary casketbearers were Lois' great-grandchildren: Angela Smith, Tucker Smith, Turner Smith, Dean Zimmerman, Gus Zimmerman; and the staff of Wheatcrest Hills. She died Friday, April 17, 2009 at Wheatcrest Hills in Britton. Lois Frances Brabrook was born September 21, 1925 at Kidder to Sidney Joseph and Anna (Otterness) Brabrook. She grew up there and attended school at Kidder. After completing her education, Lois worked for a period of time at the hospital in Veblen. On October 12, 1947 she married William Peter "Willie" Zimmerman at Kidder. They lived at both the north ranch and the south ranch of the Thorp Cattle Company, where Willie was employed for 50 years. Following retirement, the couple moved to Aberdeen where they lived for a short time before returning to Britton. Willie died March 3, 2001 and Lois continued to make her home in Britton. She became a resident of Wheatcrest Hills in October of 2007. Lois was a member of Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church of rural Kidder, where she had been active in the W.E.L.C.A. and one of the circles there. She also was a part of the church quilting group. She enjoyed participating in the Senior Nutrition Program in Britton. Lois had a keen interest in family genealogy, and developed an extensive family tree. She and Willie planted and maintained huge gardens while living on the farm. They loved to dance, with waltzes being their specialty. Lois had a keen sense of humor, and perhaps the only thing she enjoyed more than teasing someone, was being teased a little herself. Survivors include; her four children; Donna (Gordon) Heiser, Sioux Falls, Larry Zimmerman, Superior, WI, Dianne (Chuck) Smith, Britton; Leonard Zimmerman, Yuba City, CA; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gertrude Corpe, Salem, OR, Mary Beck, Britton, and Marion (Floyd) Dennitz, Pine River, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. **OPAL VIG Opal Vig, 88, Veblen, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Wilmot Care Center, Wilmot. Funeral service was held Friday, April 17 at Peever Lutheran Church, Peever. Organist was Mona Greseth and special music by Janeen Kohl. Burial was in the Peever Cemetery under the direction of Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton. Pallbearers were Harold Fryer, Linn Vig, Joel Hortness, Edean Landmark, Caroll "Spike" Nehls, and Kent Elliott. Honorary pallbearers were all of Opals friends. Opal Nerine Saterlie was born May 4, 1920 in Veblen to Ole and Nina (Evenson) Saterlie. She graduated from Veblen High School in 1938. She attended Northern State College, where she received her teaching certificate and taught rural school in Marshall County. Opal married Kenneth Vig June 26, 1941 in Veblen. Opal worked at a defense plant in Los Angeles while her husband was in the service. They returned to Peever in 1945. Survivors include; her husband of Peever; two sons, Harold (Carol) Vig, Cave Creek, AZ, and Neil (Sandy) Vig, Peever; three granddaughters, and one great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, and maternal and paternal grandparents. **FRANCES SATTLER Mass of Christian Burial for Frances Sattler, 88, was held Tuesday, April 21 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Eden, with Rev. Fr. Tom Cool, celebrant. Music for the funeral was provided by Mary Wagner, organist and the Sacred Heart funeral choir. Burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery of Eden. Price Funeral Chapel, Britton, was in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers were Wayne Sattler, Roger Dalske, Bill Wegleitner, Chuck Minser, Shelley Steiner and Kristal Sattler. Honorary casketbearers were all of Frances' remaining grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She died Friday, April 17, 2009 at the Marshall County Healthcare Center in Britton. Frances Ruth Johnson was born February 18, 1921 at Britton to George and Carrie (Holen) Johnson. As a youngster, she moved and lived with her family on various farms in the Britton area, as well as some time spent in Havana, ND. She attended rural Marshall County schools. On November 12, 1937, Frances married John Fredrick Sattler. They made their home on a farm near Ft. Sisseton. In 1942 they moved to a farm near Eden, where they lived until moving into Eden in 1962. John died in 1982 and Frances continued to make her home in Eden. Frances was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Eden, and had been active in the Altar Society. She had worked for eight years at the Dakotah Plant in Eden, as well as cooking for various restaurants in the Eden vicinity. At a time when most people would be considering retiring, Frances received her certification as a Certified Nurses Assistant at the Strand-Kjorsvig Nursing Home in Roslyn, where she worked for seven years. Frances had a love for country music and flowers. She grew and shared many beautiful flowers. Roses were her specialty, and she was known by many in Eden as "The Rose Lady." Frances also had a vast collection of dolls. She enjoyed traveling, and was particularly fond of a trip she made to Hawaii.She was happiest when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were around. Survivors include; her seven children: Agnes (Marvin) Jahnig, Washburn, ND, Phyllis (Charles) Minser, Lino Lakes, MN, James (Marilyn) Sattler, Lake City, Sherry (Anthony) Dalske, St. Louis, MO, Myron (Cari) Sattler, Webster, Terry J. (Karen) Sattler, Eden; Tim Sattler, Eden; 34 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Lien, Britton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother and three sisters. **FERN WIGDAHL Fern Wigdahl,94, Britton, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009,at the Marshall County Healthcare Center in Britton.
