Britton native Marshall Damgaard will be the featured speaker at the final meeting of the year of the Marshall County Historical Society on Thursday, Oct. 22. The meeting will be held at the Senior Center in Britton at 7:30 p.m. Damgaard graduated from Britton High School in 1968. After attending Northern State University, he served for many years in South Dakota's political arena, including serving as chief of staff for Governor William Janklow and now resides in Sioux Falls. The Britton grad recently was commissioned by the South Dakota State Historical society to write a book about the State Capitol, and he held a book signing at the Britton Library last December. He will speak about some of his experiences while doing research for the book. Damgaard credits his late father, Harlan Damgaard, for fostering his love of history. Harlan was an active member of the Marshall County Historical Society for many years. The public is invited to attend the Oct. 22 meeting.
