Belmond-Klemme won the regular season finale and the regional tournament opener in recent action, moving their overall record to 10-16. In the regular season finale against Twin River Valley, played in Bode Oct. 15, B-K won in straight sets by scores of 25-13, 25-14 and 30-28, all who dressed seeing action. Amy Soma hit 12 of 13 serves. Kaitlynn Allen went 10-for-11 from the back line. Dana Christensen racked up 12 kills and three service aces, and Shelby Mennenga dished out 18 assists.
B-K and Garner-Hayfield met for the third time this season at last Tuesday night's regional tournament opener in Garner. In a highly competitive and closely contested match, the Broncos won the first two games 26-24 and 25-21. The Cardinals took the third game 25-22, but B-K regrouped to close the match with a 25-21 victory in game four. Shelby Mennenga hit 26 of 26 serves with five aces plus 25 assists. Nikki Foss came off the bench to hit 14 of 15 serves with three aces.Dana Christensen racked up 11 digs and a school record 25 kills (beating a previous mark which stood for seven seasons.) Kaitlynn Allen recorded 13 digs, and Amy Soma got 10 digs.
