The BKHS football banquet will be held Thursday, November 5. Awards will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium, followed by dinner. The BK junior high and high school cross country potluck will be held Friday, November 6 at 6 p.m. in the high school student center. A retirement party for coach Ron Steveson will be held Saturday from 2-5 p.m. in the student center. Three Wright County Century Farms were recognized at the state fair last summer. To qualify, a family must have owned at least 40 acres for 100 years or more. Certificates were awarded to Joan Burt; Ronald Lentz; and Allen, Bill and Ron Wobbeking-Dayla Brown-Jolene Tornabeni-Sherri Lutz. This year, 297 farms were recognized, making more than 16,500 farms across the state that have received this recognition. Former Belmond resident Vanessa Nelson has written a book called "Annalise" about a young girl growing up in an environment of abuse with an alcoholic father. It was printed by Publish America.
