    Chiefs defeat Washington Generals in conference double header

    Completing the Sweep - Short Stop Tyler Graves waits to put out a Washington School steal attempt at Magnolia Heights.  The Chiefs took all 3 games from the Generals in the series last week. The Chiefs are 1st in their division and will host 1st Round MPS
    The Magnolia Heights Chief Baseball Team defeated the Washington Generals of Greenville, in a conference double header, Thursday, April 23 of the MH Field. They won the first game 6-3 and the second 12-2.

    Jake Brigman pitched the first 6 1/3 innings to get the win in the first game. He gave up 3 runs and 9 hits, struckout 3 and walked 6. Jimmy Braswell pitched the 1st 2/2 inning to get a save. He gave up no runs and no hits.

    Starters for the Chiefs were: Tyler Graves, SS, 1 for 4, 1 double and 1 run; Jeremy Massie, LF, 3 for 3, 3 runs and 1 SB; Brigman, P, 1 for 2, 1run and I RBI; Braswell, 3B, 0 for 2, 1 run and 1 RBI: Parker Gaines, DH, 1 for 2 and 2 RBIS:Shane Turnage, 1B, 2 for 3, 1 RBI, and 1 SB; Adam Webb, C, 0 for 3; Derrick Johnson, 0 for 2; Nathan Smith, CF, 1 for 3 and 1 triple; Nick Bailey, 2B, 0 for 0. Also seeing action were: Coda Medlin, 0 for 0 and 1 SB; Jacob McCormick, 0 for 1; and Justin Faulkner, 0 for 0.

    In the second game, Medlin went the distance of 5 innings to get the win. He gave up 4 hits, struckout 3 and walked 4. Starters were: Graves, SS, 2 for 3, 3 runs, 1 double, 1 RBI,and 3 SBS; Massie, LF, 1 for 3 and 1 RBI; Brigman, RF, 1 for 1, 1 run and 1 RBI; Braswell, 3B, 2 for 4, 1 run, 1 double and 2 RBIS; Gaines, DH, 1 for 2 and 1 run; Turnage, 1B, 0 for 1, 2 runs and 1 RBI; Webb, C, 1 for 1, 1 double and 1 RBI; Bailey, 2B, 0 for 2; N. Smith, CF, 3 for 3, 2 runs, 3 RBIS, and I SB; Medline, 0 for 0. Also seeing action were Faulkner, 0 for 0 and 1 run and McCormick 0 for 0, 1 run and 1 RBI.

    Saturday, Arpil 25, on the MH Field, the Chiefs defeated the Heritage Academy Patriots of Columbus in a conference double header. They won the first 10-1 and the seond 15-5.

    Massie went the distance of 7 innings to get the win in the first game. He gave up 8 hits, struckout 7 and walked 2. Starters were: Graves, 3 for 4, 2 runs, 1 double, 1 RBI, and 1 SB; Massie, P, 1 for 4; Brigman, LF, 0 for 3 and 1 RBIS; Braswell, 3B, 0 for 3 andl RBI; Gaines, RF, 2 for 3 and 2 RBIS; Turnage, 1B, 0 for 3; Webb, C, 3 for 4 and 2 doubles; Phillip Correro, 1 for 2, 2 runs, 1 RBI, and 1 SB; N. Smith, CF, 2 for 3, 1 run, 1 double, and 1 RBI; Bailey, 2B, 0 for 0. Also seeing action were: Faulkner, 0 for 0, 2 runs and 1 SB; McCormick, 0 for 0 and 1 run; and Adam Taylor 0 for 0 and 1 run.

    In the second game Vance Hopper pitched the first 5 innings to get the win. He gave up 5 runs (2 earned) and 7 hits, struckout 2 and walked 2. Braswell pitched the last inningto ge the save. He gave up no runs and no hits and stuckout 1. Starters were: Graves, SS, 2 for 5, 2 runs, 2 RBIS and 1 SB; Massie, LF, 1 for 5, 1 run and 3 RBIS; Brigman, RF, 4 for 5, 2 runs, 3 doubles and 2 RBIS; Braswell, 2 for 2, 3 runs, and 1 triple; Gaines, DH, 1 for 1 and 1 run; Turnage, 1B, 1 for 2. 1 double and 3 RBIS; Webb, C, 0 for 2 and 1 RBI; Bailey, 2B, 1 for 2, 1 run and 1 -SB; N. Smith, CF, 2 for 3, 1 run and 1 RBI; Hopper, P, 0 for 0. Also seeing action were: Faulkner, 0 for 0; McCormick, 0 for 0 and 1 run; Medlin, 0 for 0 and 1 run; Johnson, 0 for 0 and 1 run; Correro, 0 for 1; Jake Austin, 0 for 0 and 1 run, Will Stockton, 0 for 1.

    Friday, April 24, the Chiefs defeated the Marshall Academy Patriots 13-8 at Holly Springs.

    Bailey was the winning pitcher. Starters were: Graves, 3 for 5 and 1 double; Massie, 2 for 3 and 1 double; Brigman, 1 for 4 and 1 homerun; Braswell, 2 for 4 and 1 homerun; Gaines, 4 for 4 and 1 double; Turnage, 1 for 2; Webb, 0 for 3; Correro, 1 for 3; N. Smith, 0 for 4; Stockton, P. Also seeing action were Bailey and McCormick, 0 for 2.

    Monday, April 27, the Chiefs defeated the First Assembly Christian School Crusaders10-4 at Cordova, Tenn.

    Medlin pitched the first 6 innings to get the win. He gave up 4 runs and 11 hits, struckout 3, and walked 3. J. A. Smith pitched the final inning. He gave up no runs and no hits and struckout 1. Starters were: Graves, 2 for 3 and 1 double; Massie, 1 for 3; Brigman,1 for 3; Braswell, 3 for 4 and 2 doubles; Gaines, 3 for 3; Turnage, 1 for 4; Webb, 0 for 3; Bailey, 2 for 3; N. Smith, 1 for 3; Medlin, 0 for 0. Also seeing action were: Correro, 0 for 1; McCormick, 0 for 0; and J. A. Smith, 0 for 0.

    Tuesday, April 28, on the MH Field, the Chiefs defeated the Oak Hill Academy Raiders of West Point 8-0 in a conference game.

    Johnson went the distance of 7 innings to get the win. He gave up 4 hits, struckout 7, walked 2 and hit 1. Starters were: Graves, SS, 1 for 4, 2 runs, 2 RBIS, and 1 SB; Massie, LF, 3 for 4, 1 triple, and 1 RBI; Brigman, RF, 2 for 4, 1 run, and 1 RBI; Braswell, 3B, 1 for 4, 1 run, 1 triple, and 1 RBI; Gaines, DH, 1 for 1, 1 run and 1 RBI; Turnage, lB, 1 for 1 and 1 run; Webb, C, 0 for 3; Stockton, 2B, 2 for 3, 1 run and 1 RBI; N. Smith, CF, 2 for 3, 1 run, 1 RBI; and 1 SB; and Johnson, P, 0 for 0. Also seeing action were Medlin, 0 for 0 and Adam Taylor, 0 for 0.

    OH won the Junior Varsity GAme 5-3. Playing for the Chiefs were: Jacob Billingsley, 1 for 3; Correro, 1 for 2, 1 run and 1 RBI; J. A. Smith, 1 for 3, and 1 run; Austin Whitfield, 0 for 2 and 1 RBI; Faulkner, 0 for 2; Mitchell Ward, 0 for 2; Taylor, 0 for 2; Tanner Lloyd, 0 for 2, Pitts, 1 for 1 and 1 run; Townsend, 0 for 2.

    The Chiefs are now 23-5 and 1373 in the conference. The have won the Academy North AAA, Division 2 Championship and a berth in the first round of the playoffs to begin the week of May 4.
