Martha Elizabeth Douglas Martha Elizabeth Douglas, 88, of Sardis, Miss., passed away August 12, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Batesville, Miss. Funeral services were held at 12 noon Saturday, August 18, at Cedar Grove M.B. Church in Como. Burial followed at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Como. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home in Senatobia had charge of the arrangements. She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Taylor of Sardis; four grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 20 great-great grandchildren. James Dillard Ferguson James Dillard Ferguson, 90, of Independence, Miss., formerly of Memphis, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lee Ferguson and a daughter, Linda Ferguson Wren. Mr. Ferguson is survived by a son, James Michael Ferguson, Sr. of Independence; three daughters, Sue Ferguson McCully of Memphis, Cheryl Ferguson Russell of Tulsa, Okla. and Lisa Ferguson Stull of Senatobia; 14 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 11 at Independence United Methodist Church. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family asks that memorial gifts be made to Independence United Methodist Church. Hazel Eileen Hand Hazel Eileen Hand, 86, of Senatobia, Miss., died Thursday, August 9, 2012, at her home. Mrs. Hand was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved people and cared for everyone. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, James Hand of Senatobia; one daughter, Sara Hand Williams (Chuck) of Covington, Tenn.; two sons, Paul Hand (Pam) of Atoka, Tenn. and Fred Hand (Joyce) of Senatobia; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, John Roy Hand. Graveside services were held Saturday, August 12 at 4 p.m. at Brister Cemetery in Kosciusko, Miss. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home in Senatobia had charge of the arrangements. Maurice Neil Stains Maurice Neil Stains, 85, passed away August 11, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Miss. Services were held Tuesday, August 14, at 4:00 p.m. graveside at Senatobia Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Stains was a veteran of WWII and Vietnam having served in the Navy for 17 years. He is survived by his sons, Robert Neil Stains of Summerfield, N.C., and Timothy Richard Stains of California; grandchildren, Trista Parry of Senatobia, and Jonathan Stains; and great grandchildren, Andrew and Jordan Parry. Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia had charge of the arrangements. David Andrew Starnes David Andrew Starnes (Big Dave), 60, died at his home in Independence on Aug. 2. He was born in Memphis, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carmen Frances; his father, David Monroe; and his sister Linda Starnes Moore. He leaves his wife, Leatha Moncrief; three daughters, Mia Robertson (Jason) of Independence, Amanda Meredith (Josh) of Independence, Mindy Starnes of Independence and step-son Trey Dickerson (Janet) of Batesville; five grandchildren, Andrew Garay, Kalan Meredith, Nathan Meredith, Mary Grace Dickerson and Taylor Haney; three brothers, Richard Starnes (Thelma) of Collierville, Bill Starnes (Diana) of Olive Branch, Steven Starnes (Debbie)of Memphis; four sisters, Frances Severs of Olive Branch, Nancy Spencer (Robert) of Memphis, Martha Dozier (Butch) of Memphis, and Janet Turnmire of Independence; he also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
