Dennis Alexander

Dennis Alexander, 52, of Coldwater, Miss., passed away February 20, 2009. Services were held at Second Baptist Family Life Center in Coldwater, Miss. on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 11 a.m. Burial was in Featherston Cemetery in Crockett, Miss.

He is survived by his wife, Wila Alexander of Coldwater, Miss.; son, Brain Alexander; mother, Gladys M. Alexander of Senatobia, Miss.; sisters, Corena Alexander of Sterlin, Catherine Jackson of Senatobia, Miss. and Gloria Roshon of Los Angeles, Calif.; and brothers, Larry Alexander of Memphis, Tenn., J.W. Alexander, Jr., of Huntsville, Ala., Charlie Alexander of Truman, Ark., Johnny Alexander of San Antonio, Texas and Eric Alexander of Memphis, Tenn.

Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater, Miss. had charge of the services.

Donald R. Anderson

Donald R. Anderson, 66, of Arkabutla, Miss., passed away February 22, 2009. Services were held at 1 p.m. on February 26, at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial followed at Surrette Cemetery in Arkabutla, Miss.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Anderson of Arkabutla, Miss.; three sons, Donald Ray Anderson, Jr. of Oak Park, Ill., Christopher Anderson of Davenport, Ia. and Michael Anderson of Indiana; two stepsons, Michael King of Colona, Ill. and Jeremy King of Fort Worth, Texas; four grandchildren; and three step grandchildren.

Nina Pound Dunlap

Nina Pound Dunlap, 93, of New Albany, Miss., passed away February 21, 2009 at the Senatobia Convalescence Center.

Born on July 31, 1915 to the late Frank Pound and Rudell Petty Pound. She had worked for many years at Gray's Drug Store in New Albany. She loved cooking and sewing, spending time in her flower garden, and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved her church and was a member of The Glenfield Baptist Church.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at United Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Jerry Lowery officiating. Interment was in Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Jeff Knapp, Ron Peterman, Brett Peterman, Mitch Peterman, Bart Childers, Bill McBryde and Frank Dunlap.

She is survived by one daughter, Martha Ann Childers (Bill) of Kingwood, Texas; one son, Bobby Dunlap (Esther) of Senatobia, Miss.; six grandchildren, Bart and Brad Childers of Texas, Dianne Crowdis of Co., Frank Dunlap of Calif., Barbara Knapp (Jeff) of Miss., and Laura Peterman (Ron) of Va.; and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elva M. Dunlap; four sisters; and two brothers.

Kathleen Rowell

Services were held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Moore Funeral Chapel in Petal for Kathleen Rowell, 82, who died February 15, 2009 at her home in Petal. Burial was in Highland Cemetery with Rev. David Chandler officiating. Pallbearers were Ryan King, Jonathan Odom, Chris Parrett, Shane Fortenberry, David Hammon and Wayne Odom.

Mrs. Rowell was preceded in death by her husband, Cordra Frank Rowell; a son, Jessie Frank Rowell; and two brothers.

Survivors include a son, Hank William Rowell of Petal; four daughters, Mary Katheryn Casey of Senatobia, Audrey Mae Necaise of Petal, Marlene Hamman of Purvis and Doris Odom of Petal; a brother, Arnold Helveston of Columbia; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Norman R. Stafford

Norman R. Stafford, 74, passed away February 23, 2009 at North Oak Regional Medical Center in Senatobia, Miss. Services were held at 3 p.m. on February 26, 2009 in the chapel of Pate-Jones Funeral Home with burial following in Longtown Cemetery.

Mr. Stafford was a retired Chief Petty Officer for the U.S. Navy having served for 21 years. He attended St. John Catholic Church in Sardis, Miss.

He leaves his wife, Gilda Stafford of Senatobia; his daughter, Erynn McDaniel Coldwater, Miss.; sons, Tory Stafford of Askew, Miss., Norman Stafford, III of Georgetown, Texas, Jon Stafford of Senatobia; sister, Agnes Monteague of Alliance, Neb.; 8 grandchildren, Mallory, Nicholas, Patience, Justin, Jon Reese, Gilda and Ryan Cole Stafford and Morgan McDaniel.

He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Stafford, and his brother, Jerry Stafford.

Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.

Willie Mae Truddle

Willie Mae Truddle, 82, homemaker, of Coldwater, Miss., passed away February 19, 2009 in Southaven, Miss. Services were held at New Garden Baptist Church of Coldwater Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 11 a.m. Burial was in New Garden Cemetery in Coldwater, Miss.

She is survived by her daughters, Dian Truddle, Erma Chalmers, and Virginia Sipp, all of Coldwater, Miss. and Ethel Rankin of Hernando, Miss.; sons, Tony Truddle of Horn Lake, Miss., Albert Rankin of Memphis, Tenn., Rev. Clarence Rankin and C. G. Truddle, Jr., both of Coldwater, Miss.; sisters, Annie Ruth Sipp of Coldwater, Miss., Mary Logan of Nesbit, Miss. and Elsie Tolivert of Memphis, Tenn.; brothers, J.D. Wilborn and Alton Wilborn, both of Memphis, Tenn.; 32 grandchildren; and 50 great-grandchildren.

Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater, Miss. had charge of the services.

Lester Whitten Young

Mr. Lester Whitten Young, 82, retired Vice President of Oxford Production Credit, died Sunday, February 22, 2009 at his home in Oxford.  A graveside service was held Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at Oxford Memorial Cemetery in Oxford.  Visitation was held Tuesday, February 24, 2009 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Waller Funeral Home. 

Mr. Young served in the United States Navy during World War II.  He was a member of North Oxford Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for twelve years.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Caldwell Young of Oxford; two daughters, Lee Starnes of Oxford, and Lynn Patterson and her husband, Jim, of Oxford; one son Les Young, and his wife, Sonia of Senatobia, Miss.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In honor of Mr. Young's service to his country, the flag of the United States Navy will be flown at Waller Funeral Home.
