Plan favors lawyers

Most agree that one of the prime reasons medical expenses are so high is because of the endless testing and "defensive medicine" that doctors and hospitals are forced to practice due to laws enacted by the strong and rich trial lawyer lobby. Fortunately, Mississippi has led the way in making some progress in this area. If the nation could adopt meaningful and progressive tort reform, the quality of medicine could be improved and the cost could come down. Unfortunately, under the currently proposed Pelosi-Obama health care plan now being considered, just the opposite is about to happen. Under the plan states can actually be penalized from tort reform.

Have you heard about the hospital in Delaware where the doctors have performed so many surgeries on wrong body parts etc., that they were forced to install cameras in the operating room???? You would not be speaking of the poor doctors afraid of being sued if it were your child they had disfigured!!!!!!

Mississippi has the most restrictive medical malpractice laws in the country and neither our medical costs nor our insurance premiums have slowed down a hair. What an idiotic editorial for somebody in a tort reformed state. I would expect this kind of propaganda from a state that does not have such reforms, because then they have plenty of room to lie about defensive medicine. Bogus, bogus, bogus.
