Consumer groups are checking into the problems and delays connected with the Obama Administration's Cash for Clunkers program. The government has apparently processed only 35 or 40 percent of the paperwork submitted by dealers to obtain the rebate upon which thousands of auto sales were predicated. Officials say they expect to have all the deals approved or rejected by the end of September. "The issue is that the regulations that were written were incredibly cumbersome," according to Jeremy Anwyl, CEO of Edmunds.com. Our question is how can we expect the government -- or special interest groups -- or whoever is putting together the Administration's massive health care plan to be any clearer with that language. If Washington can't write a simple auto rebate procedure, do we really want Congress involved in open heart surgery. We have said it before and we will say it again: If Congress will put itself on the same plan they are shoving down our throats, we'll shut up.
