Ann Gill hosted the Evansville WOM at her home last Tuesday evening. Bob and Carol Manghan have moved to Grenada to live. Our loss will be Grenada's gain. Get well wishes are sent to Todd Lentz who is in the hospital. Angie and Scottie hosted a 70th birthday party for Betty Perryman at their home in Barr, Miss. Her husband, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends were present for this special occasion. The women of Arkabutla Baptist Church had lunch at the church Saturday. Guest speaker was Amanda Boling from Evansville Church telling about her mission trip to the Philippines this summer. Bro. and Mrs. Dennis Landers attended a Murrah family reunion in New Albany Sunday following the morning service at Evansville Church. Bill and Beverly Smith of Atoka, Tenn. visited his mother, Mrs. Sallie Smith at Senatobia Convalescent Center for her 96th birthday Monday. En-route home, they came by and visited with me. At the Sunday evening worship service at Arkabutla Baptist Church, Shannon Mangrum was licensed to preach. He then brought the evening message. His parents, Don and Polly Mangrum, and her parents, James and Diane Powell, were present for the occasion. I want to send get well wishes and prayers to our sick: Yodi and Johnnie Hawkins, Jean Smith, Glen Alford, John and Fay Turley, John and Nancy Moore and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Scott. Eddie Branan's daughter Heidi and husband Scott of Atoka, Tenn. visited with Eddie and Jean and her grandmother, Pauline Branan and uncle, Steve, Sunday afternoon. Saturday, September 19, the Charley Dye Family Reunion was held at Grenada Lake. Those present were Mrs. Velma Vanlandingham of Pine Bluff, Ark. and son, Billy of Little Rock; Marie Dye and children, Randy and Pam, and Brenda and Reuben Riley; Karlene Robertson of Calhoun City, Miss. and daughter, Barbara Williams of Vardaman, Miss.; Dale and Hilda Hemphill of Slate Springs, Miss.; Barbara and Randall Sutherland of Bruce, Miss.; Hale Reese, Jr. and Andy Reese of Calhoun City, Miss.; Thelma Baker and daughter, Susan Baker of Senatobia; and Mr. and Mrs. Johnny (Boo) Turley and their grandson, Cody of Bruce. The rain went away and we had a wonderful time catching up on what had happened since we met a year ago; and enjoyed the bountiful meal brought by all. When I married C.H. he had 11 brothers and sisters, and now Velma is the only one still with us. Six of the 12 children were unable to have a representative present.
