Celia Harris, my granddaughter, injured her arm playing Volleyball, and after several trips to the doctor, a bone scan was done and it was broken. It is more her hand since it is the bone that is at the end of her thumb; and is hard to heal because there is not much blood flow there. If it does not heal properly she will have to have a surgery and a bone graft. Please pray that is does heal. It will be x-rayed again in a few weeks.
Rhea Vines had a CAT scan done this past week. She is waiting on results and also the reports on tests she had done while in Pheonix. She has had to place Jimmy in a Nursing Home permanently since she can no longer manage him at home; and he is not doing well.
Sympathy is sent to the family of Linda Yancey who passed away August 22. Grace Dandridge is recovering from a staph infection and doing fairly well; but still cannot have visitors at this time.
Michael Benz is still not doing well. Remember him in your prayers.
Continue to pray for Dallas King and Janet as he struggles with some serious health problems.
Lisa Williams had to discontinue her treatments for a while since they were making her so sick.
We were sorry to learn that Magnolia Bible College will be closing. It has been a good school for many years, but the economy is taking a toll on a lot of our schools, universities, and businesses.
Carol Henderson continues to improve following a fall which left her wearing a boot for several weeks.
Sandra Meredith is scheduled for knee surgery on August 26. Remember her in your prayers.

I saddled up the horse and went over to let all the kids ride a round or two. I got Jennifer to come out and walk beside the child on the horse to make sure they were safe. After a few rounds when all had had one turn each, she said, "This walking in circles is making me dizzy, and my feet hurt. Besides I have a baby inside." I looked around at six of hers and two of Lisa's and with absolute horror in my voice I yelled, "You have a baby inside? What?" She said, "I have a baby inside the house, Hayleigh is asleep, you know." To which I exclaimed, "Thank God, IT IS somebody we know!"
The pantry item for August is canned vegetables. Leave your donation in the foyer for the church pantry.
Betty Sanders had oral surgery last week and is not feeling too well at this time. I hope she is better soon.
I found LJ's old cow rope the other day and when the grand boys saw it, they went nuts. Suddenly they were cowboys and they drug it around trying to rope and just being boys, as boys will do. I wrote this poem after watching them for a while.
The Grandsons and Paw Paw's Rope
Two little boys with Paw Paw's rope,
Throwing it this way and that,
Roping post and all the dogs
And even the spotted cat.
They don't know how many cows
Their Paw Paw has surely caught,
And had he lived I'm certainly sure
This feat they would've been taught.
But he's been gone four long, hard years now,
And these grandsons, with their cowboy ways,
Wanted to rope the cattle,
Like Paw Paw in his day.
The summer day lies amber,
In the hot, raging sun,
But they are both so busy
For they have work to be done.
If Paw Paw could only see them
Roping away their day,
Just trying hard to be like him,
I wonder what he'd say.
