Volunteers worked three hours each Saturday, Nov. 7 and Nov. 14 to caulk, install door sweeps, attach window film, weatherstrip around doors, install outlet and switch gaskets and install faucet insulating covers in selected Ogden homes as part of a weatherization project.
The City of Ogden partnered with Boone County Health and Sanitation to conduct energy audits of 13 homes to identify areas of heat loss. Based on the results of these audits, the City purchased materials from Ogden Farm and Feed to reduce heat loss in these homes. Ogden was awarded a $500 grant from the Iowa Utilities Board to help local citizens weatherize their homes. Ogden Municipal Utilities matched the IUB grant, bringing the total funds to $1,000.

The Water Buffalos, a local group of Ogden men, provided volunteers to complete the project. Those assisting were Craig Christensen, Dave Neubauer, Mike Moses, Cory Christensen, Steve Kieffer, Joe Uthe, Brad Poock, Chuck Good, Sean Thompson, Matt and Tracy Van Sickle and family, Wilbert and Joy Gee and family, Jeritt Tucker, Ruth Powell, Chad Thede, Jon Hanson and Mike and Lori Salati.
