    Students in SCIBA honor band
    Two eighth graders selected

          Eighth grade band students from OMS auditioned Tuesday, Oct. 6 for the SCIBA (South Central Iowa Bandmasters Association) Honor Band Festival. Out of those who auditioned, two were accepted, as well as two seventh grade students. Eighth grade students are required to audition, while directors nominate seventh graders.
          Following auditions, Henry Haglund (French horn) and Grant Heineman (trombone) were selected for the honor band. Seventh graders nominated and selected include: Kourtney Bowlin (clarinet), and Micah Levi (trumpet). These students will perform in the SCIBA Honor Band Festival Tuesday, Nov. 3 in Johnston.
          The festival will conclude with a 7 p.m. concert at Johnston Middle School. Other eighth grade students auditioning were Nathan Brant, Kara Kieffer, Mallory Melchert, and Zane Satre.
