The 2003 OHS graduate will be one of 1,000 contestants competing in Pepsi's "Play for a Billion" Sunday, Sept. 14 in Orlando, FL.
Caldwell went to the Pepsi Internet website this spring and entered codes printed on three bottle caps, thinking his odds of winning were pretty remote.
"They randomly picked codes every month, and I heard from them this summer that I was one of the winners," he explained.
Caldwell will fly to Orlando Saturday, Sept. 13 for an all-expense paid vacation, including deluxe accommodations at the Orlando World Marriott hotel.
"It's a huge place with five swimming pools and a golf course," he noted.
Caldwell and the other 999 contestants will compete for the grand prize during a live two-hour broadcast on KPWB (channel 23) beginning at 7 p.m.
Comedian Drew Carey is hosting the show.
"I'll get to meet him," Caldwell said with an enthusiastic smile.
The contestants will each provide a six-digit number. The lucky winner will walk away with the big money if their number identically matches Pepsi's pre-selected "billion dollar number".
Since the chance of winning $1 billion is more unlikely than being struck by lightning on a sunny day, Pepsi will award a "consolation" prize of $1 million to the contestant with the closest matching number.
If Caldwell wins, look for the entire population of Ogden to be treated to a round of soda pop.
