After drawing a bye in the first round of District play, the Bulldogs shut out Woodward Academy 10-0 in five innings Tuesday night to advance in districts. They face Gilbert this Saturday. Ogden boys finished the regular season with a 10-6 loss to the Des Moines Christian Lions at home Tuesday, July 3. Ogden's contest with Humboldt was canceled due to a scheduling conflict for Humboldt. Ogden finished the season 21-10 overall and 15-5 in conference play, tied for third place with Coon Rapids-Bayard. Van Meter won the conference with a 17-3 record. D.M. Christian took second with a 16-4 record. Woodward Academy earned the right to play after defeating Jefferson-Scranton-Paton-Churdan last Saturday. Woodward Academy brings in a 10-21 overall record and a 3-17 record in conference play. Ogden won the previous two meetings by a score of 12-2 and 15-4. DM Christian 10 - Ogden 6 Tuesday night in Ogden. Shaky Bulldog defense was the cause of Ogden's 10-6 loss to the Lions from Des Moines Christian. Four Bulldog errors accounted for 6 unearned runs. Ogden pitchers combined to issue 9 free passes along with 12 strike outs. The Lions jumped up three runs in the first aided by an Ogden error for a 3-0 lead. The Bulldogs responded by taking advantage of a Lion error to tally two runs and cut the deficit to 3-2. DM Christian increased its lead to 6-2 scoring four times without the aid of a hit in the fourth. The Lions got a big double from Tyler Osborn in the fifth to add two more runs for an 8-2 lead. They increased the lead to 10-2 aided by another Ogden error and a big hit by T.J. Shealy. Ogden responded. After Nolan Eich struck out, Cayce Good was walked. Cody Good singled advancing Cayce to second. Josh Turner reached on a throwing error by the Lions third baseman scoring Cayce Good. Adam Adreon doubled to score Cody Good and Turner. Treston Hagen was called out on strikes. Colton Boggess doubled, scoring Adreon but Boggess was thrown out at third to end the game at 10-6. Ogden was led by Cody Good with 3 hits including a double and Adreon added two doubles. Boggess also drove one to the outfield for a double. D.M.
